3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
One of the more well balanced doubles: not too sweet, not overly bitter. Fruits come through on flavor but not on aroma where this beer is a little weak.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Copper pour with average sized white head. Nose is big with pine and citrus. Flavor has a great pine hop punch with some notes of citrus. Has a little bitterness, but good malt balance.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
For a Imperial IPA I donít get any boozy ness. Malty and sweet. If you want a sweeter smoother double this is an good one.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Malty nose, pine, oranges, caramel. Glowing orange-amber color with a low, fine head. Sweet, slightly boozy flavor of oranges, biscuits, pine, something like orange sorbet. Nice fruitiness.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hop Thermia 8.5% Bomber shared by KyotoLefty. A deep orange-coper pour with a light beige filmy head of foam. The aroma is very fruity hops with a bit of dankness and caramel. Very sweet pine and fruits while solid it doesnít stand out in any way.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium gold-amber pour with a billowing slightly-off white head - ample lacing left in its wake. Aroma is primarily resinous hops...some citrus notes mixed in there along with some spicy notes and something thatís odd, but I canít put my finger on it. Generally good, but not all-in at this point. Flavor is very bitter...resinous, dank hops dominate...doesnít have the malt backbone I was expecting. Some grapefruit hints, but again, not what I was expecting. Medium to heavy body for the style...this drinks like its ABV, if not more. Kind of ímehí on this one...far from íbadí, but not quite good either!

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Grand Canyon park bar. Hazy orange, light carbo, small head. A: very light ipa and caramel malts aroma, some cola and lime. Ok but maybe too thin. T: medium bodied ipa, nice mellow exotic fruits, strong malt character (almost Speciale Belge), medium bitter development with bitter fruity aftertaste.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle - Pours clear copper with a light tan head. It smells of hops with citrus and resin. The flavor is similar with strong bitterness, citrus, resin, and underlying bready malts. Very good.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber, best before 1/17/16, drunk 11/6/15.
Clear, modestly carbonated amber liquid has a medium-sized light beige head that shows moderate retention.
Pine, citrus, caramel and sourdough in the nose are bolstered somewhat by some less intense notes of lemon, leafy, dank forest and perhaps some herbal character as well....but it still seems like this is just going to be one big C-hop bomb. Alcohol well concealed in the nose, at least, and there are no flaws noted.
To my great surprise, itís not a c-hop bomb. Donít get me wrong, itís still very citrusy with lots of orange rind and white grapefruit, but the pine gets only moderately resinous on the end and before that thereís plentiful herbal, leafy, almost tea oil-like character. Spicy, dank and pretty well-attenuated, it nonetheless has a good amount of dextrinous body, with moderate warming on the end and lots of bitterness lingering. My only worry with my rating is that they were not intentionally making this a more palateable beer and were actually trying to make it a hop/resin bomb and failed. Which would be very sad, but not something I would put past Alaskan...
