12oz 4-pack picked up at the COOP over the weekend... Glad to FINALLY have this one in Boise. Enjoyed for the first time tonight in my slim tulip... 1" off white head.. goes away fairly fast... the brew is light amber.
Nose doesn’t have as much hoppy punch as I expect from a PNW DIPA... still no faults, it is nicely balanced and shows a respectable amount of tropical fruity hops that are carried nicely by a generous pale malt presence.
Flavor has a good bitter backbone... surprisingly dry throughout and has light pale malty notes that die back quickly.. hops are tropical fruits with hints of pithy grapefruit...
Really, this is a shortlived and very drinkable DIPA... I never would have guessed this +8% and I never would have pegged this as a serious contender DIPA, instead it is in the incredibly drinkable realm.. I appreciate it a bunch, but I personally like a little more fun in the flavor spectrum.

Absolutely great brew! Top heavy head. Hoppy. Boozy. It is full-bodied. Smooth washdown. Begins as it ends, strong. Enduring, lingering flavor for the palate. Definitely keeping in step with their Barleywine, which is another solid beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, reddish orange with a sticky white head. Aroma of citrus, mild pine, and lots of caramel malt notes. Some tropical fruit, some resin. Flavor is quite bitter with medium fruity sweetness. Medium bodied light texture, lots of carbonation. Finishes bitter and fruity,

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Poured clear, medium orange with a sticky white head. The aroma picked up juicy oranges and pine resin over seemingly sweet caramel malts.. a touch heavy-handed, but aiight. The flavor found syrupy sweet caramel and bready notes at the core with pine and citrus bitterness plus peppery alcohol around.. finished sharp with a dry bite right at the end. Medium-plus bodied with a slightly bigger feel than it should’ve had.. overall a good beer with some rough edges.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained ivory head with some lacing, over a clear dark amber (SRM 15) body....nose is sweet malts, with toffee/caramel tones, light cereal, hops add grapefruit, pine, minimal esters....taste is light sweet to start, hints of hop spice, then grapefruit, pine arrive leading into moderate hop bitter finish, with lingering sweetness....mouth feel, medium body, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation low with light acid on finish. This is most assuredly an I/DIPA. It is a bit unbalanced in the malts with sweet tones dominating, rather than the slightly more subtle toffee/caramel and other toasted malt aromas and flavors. The hops are not as aromatic nor as varied in flavors as the very best in the style. Overall it is a bit simple. Rework both the hop and malt bills. BJCP 6/3/13/4/6

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
From a bottle. Strong pine and citrusy aroma. Substantial off-white head with good lacing and a deep orange color. Pine and floral hops up front with a sweet malt finish. Medium body, low carbonation. Overall, a little lacking in in the full array of flavors you expect from a good IPA.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
A grassy, pine forward nose with hints of floral and citrus. Pours a clear orange-ish-amber with a rapidly disseminating off-white foam and abuntent lacing. The taste is firmly hop driven. Grass, pine, coupled with floral notes and hints of malt sweetness. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, a rewarding IPA whose taste is anything but one demintional.
