4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ronaldtheriot (777) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - MAY 15, 2013
Alaskan IPA has a thin, white head and a semi-clear, golden appearance, with some streaming bubbles and minimal lacing. The aroma is of grapefruit and sweet, white bread. Taste is the same, with maybe some pith and pine oil. Bitterness is strong, but not overwhelmingly so. Mouthfeel is medium and oily, and Alaskan IPA finishes fairly dry, refreshing, and quite drinkable. Overall, this is considerably nice, and I score it as being most excellent. RJT
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 dwyerpg (4067) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - APR 23, 2013
Had this awhile back and was mostly disappointed. It has a malt character that doesn’t sit quite right for me. The free ride apa I just had is better.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 SpringsLicker (2822) - Tennessee, USA - APR 19, 2013
Pours clear light gold with a tall white head.
The aroma is largely pine resin with just a touch of honey malt at the end.
The flavor is mildly bitter but doesn’t go much of anywhere from there.
A bit washy on the tongue.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 wildbeercat (116) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - APR 18, 2013
12 fl oz / 355mL bottle into a pint glass. Served cold.
Aroma: Lemony, grapefruit, and some pine. Not a whole lot of hop presence in the aroma.
Appearance: Transparent dark yellow, soapy white head. Not a whole lot of lacing.
Taste: Lots of pine again, followed by hop bitterness with mild citrus on the finish. Nice flavors, but nothing really stands out.
Palate: Not thin or watery, but light. Pretty refreshing. Flavors linger a bit.
Overall: Not the best IPA out there by far, but a pretty good one. Not very complex, but refreshing and pleasant.
0.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 sjohnny (252) - - APR 13, 2013
Strong pinetar aroma. Light bodied. Nothing but pine hops flavor. Like drinking a pine tree.
2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Cantabrian (378) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - APR 7, 2013
I love the aroma of sweet grapes and peaches. Lots of peaches here. The flavour is disappointi ng, as there is hardly any of those fruits behind the bitterness, which is not that massive per se. It is just an empty taste before the bitter finish, and little to say about the palate. Not offensive, for sure, but lacks more complexity and more flavours.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jdskinns (138) - South Roxana, Illinois, USA - APR 6, 2013
Bottle. Appearance is clear amber with soapy white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is citrus hops. Taste is bitter but not as hoppy as the aroma lets on. Thin body.
3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hanuta06 (140) - Washington, USA - APR 2, 2013
Serving: from tap at Mick Kelly’s Irish Pub and Restaurant.
Aroma: light hoppy.
Appearance: small, frothy, off-white initial head, with excellent lacing and mostly diminishing longevity. Clear, flat, medium-yellow body
Taste: lightly bitter, hoppy, initial flavor and moderately bitter finish with average duration.
Palate: medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation.
Overall: very good. Hoppy without being too bitter.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mkel07 (2340) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - MAR 29, 2013
355ml bottle from The Beer Cellar. Pours a bright golden amber colour with a decent sized white foam head. Citrus and floral hops in the aroma are good as is the piney hoppy flavour. Easy to drink and very enjoyable.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 mnmike (606) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Bottle pour - second offering from this brewery I’ve had after the amber. Middle of the road IPA - happy to drink it.
