3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 alexsdad06 (2230) - Ohio, USA - JUL 8, 2010
Draft @ BBQ, Brews, and Blues. Pours a golden amber with an medium sized foamy white head which was mostly lasting. The aroma was mild and very fresh, with a light pine and floral hoppiness to it. The flavor was a very light, crisp and refreshing, something that you very rarely see with hop heavy west coast IPA’s. Focus was on floral and pine hops, but the bitterness level was medium so it has appeal to the non hop heads of the world. This would be very sessionable if it was accessible. The finish was dry but not too bitter. Overall not bad at all, not super hoppy for me, but still a decent beer.

Bottle. Poured a clear, light orange with a solid, dense, medium head that left decent lacing. Aroma of old resinous hops, strawberry candy, grassy hops. Taste was grassy hops, soapy hops, sticky candies. Palate was watery, soapy, sticky, fairly thin.

Bottle shared by Tim, thanks
Appearance: Pours clear golden with a small white head and some lacing left in the glass
Aroma: Floral, citrus and candy flavors
Taste: Floral, candy and some hops in the finish
A nice IPA, clean and tasty. Not alot of hops, but it was bottled 13 months before so they may have dropped out.

Bomber thanks to Timbo. Pours a light golden color with a small white head. A sweet hop nose, caramel and light fruit. The flavor is easygoing and nice; sweet light bitter hops, fruity, biscuit, lots of malt. The bottle was about 1 yr old, so it mellowed a bit perhaps. Very nice and easy.

Pours bright amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is citrus, grapefruit, spicy hops, floral notes, light pale malt. Flavor is sweet, spicy, bitter mid-palate, spicy hop finish. Medium body and carbonation, minimal resins. Drinkable but hardly a great IPA.

bottle. Pours a honey gold with white bubbly head. Aroma of light floral hops, fruity but not in a citrus way, more like subtle berries. Flavor of sweet floral hops, crisp bite aspect to it, which progresses to a bitterness, and with a nice honey sweetness on the finish. Medium to full bodied, this is a nice take on an IPA. It’s a little non-traditional which I like, very drinkable, good session. Not as big in hoppiness as lots of american IPAs tend to be but still big in flavor, with a strong enough hop presence to justify its IPA status. The best way to describe this IPA is as crisp and flowery, with a good hop bite. Nice.

Enjoyed at the Yard House in San Diego. I’m from Chicago and was blown away by the Alaskan Summer Ale last time I was on the Pacific coast, so I was happy to try anything from Alaskan. This had to be the lightest, most carbonated IPA I’ve ever had. Aroma was faint but slightly noticeable with subtle hops due to dry hopping. Appearance was of a standard IPA, only lighter. Taste was very light, almost like a peachy light pale ale, and carbonated. It wasn’t bad, just not great like I was anticipating.
