COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing, crisp finish is achieved by dry hopping. The fruity, citrusy aroma is a nice complement with grilled prawns and spicy foods.

22oz in mug. Clear gold with tall, lasting foamy white head and attractive lace. Bright citrus and slight metallic nose. Flavors are comparatively muted, but there are some ok apple notes in there somewhere. Big carbonation doesn’t quite go far enough to sharpen the mouthfeel.

(22oz bottle). Pours dark yellow with a chunky white head. Is this an IPA? Looks like a lager with an IPA head. Aroma of hay, cheese, floral and mild herbs. Taste is sweet with almost no hoppiness. The finish has some mild, lingering hops. While the beer itself wasn’t bad, it was the weakest example of an IPA I’ve ever had. It’s not even a Pale Ale. Did I get a lager with and IPA label slapped on the bottle? My score would be higher if they didn’t call this an IPA, but this example is unacceptable.

bottle-i have had this beer a few times since i started rating again, but now i had it recently. clear orange with a soapy white head and very nice looking carbonation all through the glass (and from what i remember, my other samples were like this). nose is more fruity than you would expect-grapes, lite citrus, with a touch of grain and pepper. flavors of grainy malts and spicy hops-not really the most bold ipa out there but something here works....i dont know what it is. I would call this an "ipa lite" for those out there that want some hops, but dont want to be killed by them. this is your beer.

Nice dry hop aroma. Golden color. Dry hop taste carried through from the aroma.

So... your telling me this is an IPA. This beer could be labeled "pale ale", and I would still call it weak in every respect unless labeled "english pale ale". This is very dissapointing from a brewery that can make good beer, as proven by the smoked porter and baltic porter. Call this beer something other than an IPA and my score goes up. Next.

12 oz. bottle. Pours slightly cloudy golden color. Dry cirtusy hops in the nose. Taste is dry with some hoppy bitterness, but less than I expected. Not a whole lot else going on. Decent but nothing special.

Pours hazy amber, thin white head. Aroma is hop driven, light citrus, sweet malt, pine. Flavour isn’t too complex. A fair amount of bitterness, lemon zest, nothing too outstanding.

Interesting brew, my first from Alaskan. Lots of aroma from the dry-hopping, pungent woody, earthy, and spicy hops. Flavor is actually fairly subdued, with a honey sweetness (not caramel, honey) and a soft hop presence. Good balance of sweet and ABV heat, but a little too sticky for my taste. This was my first Alaskan, and with Amber and Smoked Porter ’09 still in the backlog, I see room for improvement!
