3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheGrandMaster (2308) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 5, 2009
Bottle (in NZ), pours orange gold with a filmy head. Strong hop aroma of juicy fruit. Plenty of hops on the palate, deliciously citrus and moreish, with an earthy finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ApisAles (1153) - Greenbelt, Maryland, USA - MAY 23, 2009
Pours a clear golden color with a thin white head. Aroma was slightly hoppy, nothing overwhelming. Also some bread and yeast notes. Flavor was also pretty underwhelming, really mild hops and something a bit metallic. Not terribly impressed.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 illidurit (1274) - Santa Cruz, California, USA - MAY 23, 2009
Pours a crystal clear orange-gold with a nice beige cap of foam. Aroma is soft and sweet, with notes of peach, orange, and bubblegum. A bit too faint and sweet for me. Candied lemon wedge flavor with some pithy grapefruit and a pale malt finish with medium bitterness. A little sweet overall but the hops are bright and the bitterness is solid and unastringent.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 scoth (423) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 20, 2009
Pours clear amber-gold, with a thin white head, fine lacing. Strong pine aroma, with some grass, dough and caramel underneath. Medium body, velvety, lightly dry. The malt flavors are subtle, caramel, white-bread, turning into citrus and a sweet grapefruit finish. Mild bitter pine-resin aftertaste. Very drinkable.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 alagnak (467) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - MAY 18, 2009
Bomber - great nose, crisp pine with some citrus (lemon?) - tastes as it smells, but a bit more subdued and a little watery. Solid IPA, nothing special, but I felt like having another immediately, so bonus points for that and the price.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SorenE (168) - , NEW ZEALAND - MAY 17, 2009
Pale golden, white head. Citrus and maltiness in flavour and aroma.
Solid example of the style, no more, no less. tasty but not exeptional.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 CanIHave4Beers (2000) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - MAY 14, 2009
Pours a clear golden with lots of effervessence and a good billowy white head. Aroma is grassy with some nice citrus. I’ve had countless IPAs with grassy aromas, but I doubt I’ve ever had one with a grassy flavor, until now. Very earthy, wonderfully spicy with a very good hoppiness, but not without a strong malt backbone with a good grainyness. This is really a nice IPA, far better than I had expcected, if a bit one dimensional.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 sudsmeister (50) - Colorado, USA - MAY 13, 2009
This is a nice, well balanced IPA. Pours gold with moderate carbonation. Quite dry with little aftertaste. Priced better than most.
