3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Delirium (563) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 13, 2009
Bomber. Pours golden with a smallish white head. Aroma is malt with some clean, understated hops. Flavor is well balanced and also understated, a mixture of slightly sweet crystal malt, substantial earthy hops in the background, a hint of citrus, hint of yeast, and a bitter finish. Not a big American west-coast-style IPA, but not as laid-back as a British-style IPA either. Does have quite a bit of both hops and malts, and the 6.2% alcohol is completely unnoticeable; but it all manages to come across as not very bold. Respectable and well made, though.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 snuffla (155) - Chch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 5, 2009
Pours straw coloured with flashes of amber and slighlty cloudy. Nose was bready and orangey. Clean tasting, not overly hoppy despite the dry hopping and not really very bitter for an IPA. Nice softness in the mouth and mid weight finish with orange marmalade notes
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 3, 2009
Tasted 03/05/2009. 12oz bottle from Beerstore. Another well crafted strong hoppy (slightly hazy) pale ale from one of the famous new world producers. Again... it has that aromatic malt richness that seems to stand out so prominently in these clean hoppy US beers. Be nice to see just a shade less European specialty character in them, so that the excellent local hop character could show itself off a bit more. Lovely beer, in good condition, nonetheless.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - MAY 1, 2009
Bottle. Light grain note for the malt, moderate aroma of flowers for the hops, no noticeable yeast smell, and a hint of wood in the background. Head is average sized, frothy, white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear amber. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery, has a carbonation between lively and fizzy and finishes dry. Pretty simple on the aromas, but as crisp and clean as an IPA gets.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 alexanderj (2829) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - APR 26, 2009
On tap at Good Microbrew in LA. Color was a clearish dark gold. Aroam of sweet malt, caramel, citrus and flowers (just a bit of those). Flavor wasn’t really good; not nearly as good as the aroma. Decently bitter. Ok.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 can8ianben (1095) - Souderton, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 23, 2009
After sampling a bunch of DIPAs at Naja’s IPA fest, this one didn’t really stand up on its own feet. A faint pine aroma, a bit too thin in the body. Bright orange color, thin white head. Not very impressed.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 greig (253) - Hamilton, NEW ZEALAND - APR 23, 2009
Pale gold. Soft fluffy white head. Aroma of caramel and grapefruit. Same flavour. A little thin. Very tasty, but not a wow beer.
