In early 2014 Alaskan re-branded their IPA as Icy Bay IPA

The very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing, crisp finish is achieved by dry hopping. The fruity, citrusy aroma is a nice complement with grilled prawns and spicy foods.

Poured out of a 22 oz bottle. Hue is nice and pale. Flavor is very crisp and has a thin lacey head. Worth a try if you can find it, though I had never seen it around before.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2008 Bottle. An awesome looking IPA! A little clear but nice and light colored with a just off-white/ ivory head. Worty/ fruity smelling malt aroma with some grapefruit hop notes. Slightly sweet and pretty fruity but nicely hopped. Hop forward. Citrusy. Man, I donít get the ratings here, I think this is an nice IPA!

Bottle. Pours clear gold with thin white head. Aroma is of grapefruit and citrus, but you can tell that itís not going to be a really powerful IPA. Flavor is good, to style and well-balanced, but nothing too exciting. A little watery and the flavor just needs a little more kick. An average IPA.

Bottle. Gold / yellow color with a thin white head and some visible carbonation. Aroma of citrus / lemons, floral hops, and some pine hops. Pilsner-like malt flavor with a little citrus and pine hop finish.

Pours a clear golden amber with a small head and some decent lacing. Smells of a little grapefruit, a little malt and some hops. Very mild taste which is fine but dissapointing if seeking an intense IPA. Mild hops and balancing malt, some citrus rind but nothing comes close to blowing you away. Finishes a tad dry but leaves the pallate something to desire. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. This is an IPA made to sip continuously on a hot day. A middle of the road IPA.

Looks like a pilsner, clear gold, white head, nice hoppy flavor and aroma. At $2.79 per bomber, itís a pretty good deal.

clear gold, wispy white head, streaks of drippy lace, earthy hop aroma backed by sweet crystal malt, rich crystal malt flavor, just a touch of sweetness is balanced by lots of earthy hops, touch of citrus, lasting bitter finish,

Iím really surprised by how low this beer is ranking. Itís a really solid ipa, somewhat fruity rather than hoppy, so maybe itís not a traditional ipa, but itís a great beer.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light orange-hued body with a lush, bubby off-white head. Smell: Pleasantly aromatic nose of citrus and soap with a mild addition of caramel malts. Taste: Juicy citrus flavors of lemon and tangerine. Only a faint hint of caramel as not too much maltiness shows up. Thereís a medium bitterness which drops out for a pretty clean, light finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: It could use a bit more of everything, but as it stands itís still a decent, easy drinking light IPA.
