COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In early 2014 Alaskan re-branded their IPA as Icy Bay IPA

The very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing, crisp finish is achieved by dry hopping. The fruity, citrusy aroma is a nice complement with grilled prawns and spicy foods.

Pretty mild stuff here. Light caramel malt sweetness with tinges of very minimal hop bite. Basically left me wanting more of everything...except this beer.

22oz bottle. Love the label to this bottle. Pours a golden color with small white head. Piney hop aroma, flavor is mild for an IPA. Not bad but also not the best. Average IPA.

Bottle poured a clear gold with a large lasting white head. Aromas of earthiness, light pine, light grapefruit and a hint of carmel. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of earthiness, light pine and a hint of carmel with a crisp lightly bitter finish.
WHERES THE HOPS!

Super average IPA, like an overhopped bud light type brew...ya know? Itís Alaskan, wasnít expecting much. Nothing terribly wrong, itís just small.

bottle from SecretSanta ( Thanks!) My first alaska beer, and this is a good one, probalby the easiest drinking IPA iíve had, its not overwhelming with hops which normally would dock the rating but this drank so smooth with just the right bitterness, i could drink gallons.

650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Clear light amber with a creamy white head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Decent citrus taste with a mild bitterness to the finish.

Bottle from Windy City. Deep golden color with orange hi-lights upon pouring. Citric hoppy aroma. Somewhat peppery. Flavor is dry and hoppy. Good solid bitter qualities. Not super bitter, but an easy sipper with good hoppiness.

Another recent rating where Iím shocked at the low overall score. Pours clear copper with a good amount of an off-white head. The aroma has lots of citric hops, bits of pineapple, some sweetness and a good toasted malty backbone. Medium body that is more full & rich than most IPAs. There is some nice soft carbonation. The flavor starts with a citrus and pineapple blend to give a bold / rich hoppy presence. There is a bit of bitterness with the hops which is nice and some good underlying malt to balance. The finish is clean with some additional piny and spicy hops. A very well crafted IPA. Many thanks go out to Terminus for picking this treat up for me.

22. Pours a very slightly hazy medium amber with a thickish, sudsy platinum blande head that falls away with film almost right away. Minimal lacing. Bready, slightly sweaty nose with a modest--though refreshing--piney cargo. Medium body, active carb, and more yeasty, bready, lightly piney flavors. Somewhat refreshing, and itís drinkable, but thereís really not much happening here. No obvious flaws, though, either.

Totally good enough for 6.49 a six pack and how. Really the whole lineup of Alaskan is really decent.
