3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 raphael (762) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 3, 2007
aroma more sweet then hoppy, though the nose hairs know. egg whites. clear blondish amber with measly off-white head. wants to linger in the mouth a little, though light in weight. gives the tongue just a pinch. while the hops are clearly present I appreciate the malt presence, more weight than sweetness, as good grain should, cleanly. would be a great session beer, a little hoppier than most, but of a good weight & lack of lingering.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bitbucket (2119) - Kirkland, Washington, USA - APR 3, 2007
Bottle. Pours a clear golden amber with a fluffy white head. Sweet citrus and pine aroma. Light, watery body and medium carbonation. Taste is lightly sweet toffee and citrus with a crisp spruce finish. Everything about this beer except the 6.4 ABV says lawnmower.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 k9coug (92) - USA - APR 3, 2007
Too sweet and malty for an IPA. Too subtle nose. I consider ALASKAN to be a northwest brewery, and as such their IPA should be assertive. This one is not. As in all Alaskan products, they should not be bottled in twist tops as the risidual sugars cause the caps to be difficult to open. Nice pale color.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kyzr (1140) - Belgrade, Montana, USA - APR 2, 2007
Copper pour with white head. Typical aroma of an IPA. Flavor is not as hoppy as the nose lets on, flavor is light citrus at first then fades into a malty balance. Finish is not really over the top hoppy like a lot of west coast IPAs. Rather clean finish.

12oz bottle pours out a dark gold topped with a nice white head. A great aroma and tast of hops. pretty good for a IPA from Alaska. O ya what is up with the surfer on the bottle???
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 cyanescens (159) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 27, 2007
A drinkable beer, it was decent. Crisp, light, golden in color. Filtered. Light citrus.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 NICU (12) - Oregon, USA - MAR 27, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2007 Bottle purchased at Belmont Station. Alaskan IPA accomplishes what it sets out to do by providing hopheads with a good clean IPA that doesn’t wreck you and/or your palate after one pint.
Pleasant floral and citrus nose precedes a fairly dry, well-defined quaff. A simple malt profile acts as a carrier for the siganture pine and citrus hop notes people come to expect from a NW IPA.
All in all it makes for a good "session IPA" that you could drink 3 or 4 of without scraping the enamel off your teeth.

12 oz bottle.
Nice enough looking IPA clear orange with a good thick off white head.
Nice mainlly citric hop aromas, some piesih undertones.
Flavour is actually more balanced than the aroma, the piney hops are there, but theres a good malt balance.
Ok on the palate, average for style,
THis is by no means a top rate IPA, but its pretty good drinking!
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jake65 (2334) - Williston, North Dakota, USA - MAR 21, 2007
Bottle: Pours a clear golden color with orange hues. A large white head lasts a while and some sticky lacing. The aroma is very solid; a blend of citrus, floral, and piney hops. Taste is a bit lacking. The hop intensity is rather moderate, some malty sweetness and a twinge of lager. It tastes more like a half-n-half of IPA and pale lager. The taste simply doesn’t follow the nose.

This is a very good IPA. The Alaskan Brewing Company sure does know how to make a great beer, and this is no exception. If you want a good IPA, give this one a try.
