Bottle: Dark gold with an off-white, bubbly head. The aroma is a bit metallic with a flowery hop flavor mixed with hairspray. A bit disappointing, I was expecting more from Alaskan, especially with an IPA. It needs much more of a hop backbone. The aftertaste leaves an impression of malts, not hops.

Pours a clear golden color with a thin white head. Aroma was slightly hoppy, nothing overwhelming. Also some bread and yeast notes. Flavor was also pretty underwhelming, really mild hops and something a bit metallic. Not terribly impressed.

Copper pour with white head. Typical aroma of an IPA. Flavor is not as hoppy as the nose lets on, flavor is light citrus at first then fades into a malty balance. Finish is not really over the top hoppy like a lot of west coast IPAs. Rather clean finish.

Draft at Billy’s Bar and Grille in Aberdeen, WA on 7/23/07. Light amber with a moderate lasting whtie head and nice lace - a good looking beer. Mild piney op aroma with some substantial caramel malt character. Smooth medium body. Caramel and roasted malt flavors with very soft bitterness in a fading finish. Underwhelming.

12 oz. bottle, part of a mixed 6 pack picked up at Princeton’s in MN. pale honey gold in color with a short-lived pillowy white head settling quickly to a couple tiny islands with a small amount of lace. aroma is somewhat grassy with hints of citrus. taste is dry bread crust with a tiny bit of caramel. light carbonation and almost medium bodied. OK thirst quencher, but not a lot of flavor or bitterness here.

Bottle. Poured a clear yellowish color. The smallest of white heads. Aroma was very weak for a IPA. Faint hops, citrus, and grass. Flavor was watery and very very weak for an IPA. I really wanted to get into this one. First beer from Alaska. Just not very good.

A little on the thin side, but overall pretty well balanced, with nothing overwhleming the other. The hops characteristics are kind of eccentric, with lots of cascade qualities. Very dry on the palate, but clean and crisp. Could use a bit more maltiness.
