3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 skortila (4160) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - AUG 23, 2010
West USA trip 2010. On tap @ Pizza Port Carlsbad. The aroma has some grassy hoppy tones. Clear, golden coloured beer with not much head. The taste is a bit grassy, citric, moderate bitter. Bit thin body. Average IPA. Expected more from this brewer.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (6381) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 23, 2008
22oz bottle. Tinny, plasticy, strong catty urine, citruc acid, dried leaves and amonia in the nose. Flavor is strongly catty celery flavored hops, dried leaves, amonia, lemon juice, and dried lawn clippings. Can’t say I’m really digging this one, and after a full glass I’m pretty much sick of it. I think Alaskan whiffed on this one... but maybe the kind of hops they use really aren’t meant to be used in IPA, perhaps a bitter would be more suitable.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Zoob (85) - Bakersfield, California, USA - SEP 23, 2005
This is from the rough draft series. I have had this beer at the brewery and at the Hanger in Juneau. It showed slight differences in the two kegs. The beer is made well and tasty. It is a very low hopped IPA with some citrus up front and spicyness in the finish. I would have it again and again. If you want a BIG IPA this is not it, but this may gain some transition drinkers to bigger beers. It will be interesting to taste in bottle and watch quality control.

(Bottle) Pours a clear yellow body with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, bread, and spruce. Flavor of citrus and floral hops. Below average amongst IPAs.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 cstuartj (645) - Washington, USA - MAR 7, 2008
Bottle. Pours clear amber yellow with a large thinish off white head. Nose is really weak and maltish, not very IPA at all to me. Taste is clean but bland, not real flower/hoppiness that I like in an IPA. Finish is again clean but nothing happens worth noting.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopdog (7037) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 28, 2007
12oz bottle Poured a light to medium and crystal clear amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, orange peel, and somewhat floral. Tastes of citrus, floral and a touch of caramel thrown in. Thinner body.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Crosling (1861) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - JUN 15, 2008
Light golden/bronze color with a small foam. Woodsy and medicinal hop aroma, with some herbaceousness as well. Fairly aromatic, but not pleasant for me at all. Flavor is fairly hoppy, also woodsy like the nose, with spruce hints and some honey covered fruits. Don’t care for the super medicinal nose, but the flavor is pretty spot on for the style and well balanced. Could be brighter, but its a pretty good IPA.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 blankboy (4434) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 12, 2008
Bottle (22oz). Pours a clear yellow-orange with an average size diminishing foamy white head. Very mild aroma of resiny hops and sweet malt -- not much else really, it’s a little dull. Flavour, also mild, of resiny hops and some fruit. Average bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. It’s alright but it is a bit dull, simple and overly mild. Maybe it’s unfair to compare but there’s so many great American IPAs out there to compare it against and this one just doesn’t cut it for me.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ABUSEDGOAT (1937) - California, USA - JAN 21, 2008
Clear orange, moderate head, some lacing and retention. Aroma is grapefruit, wood, caramel. Cascades and Goldings? Medium bodied, moderate bitterness. Flavors don’t suit my preferences.
