COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alaskan Baltic Porter is a deep, dense beer with an intricate array of aromas and flavors derived from substantial amounts of specialty malts, dark black cherries and whole gourmet vanilla beans. In order for the British to export their dark ales to the northern ports of the Baltic Sea, they were brewed stronger than normal to endure the long voyage. The extra warmth was welcomed in these countries with harsh winters and a taste for the robust, attributes that also fare well in Alaska.

Oh man this was tasty. This is one of those beers I am going to think back to and dream and reminisce about how tasty it was. Mega points as well for uniqueness. Creamy texture with a marshmallow and chocolate like flavor. Smooth chocolate and cocoa aroma. Pours deep black and has almost like a flat cola like texture.

22oz bottle from 5000, thanks Andre. Super dark crimson color, almost black with a tan head. Has a bourbon barrel smell to it, but I know it’s not barrel aged. Very strong rich flavor, and very smooth, this is damn good. Hints of vanilla and toffee.

When I heard Alaska, I was worried. I thought this beer would suck and use horrible grammar. However, both were not true. This beer was great. Big Chocolate aroma, and big chocolate flavor. No detectable alcohol. Great beer.

Crushed with Jakebra and Honkeybra. Much dark chocolatey and roasty and awesomeness on the nose. Sexy mouthfeel. How could Sarah Palin come from the same state as something this awesome?

Bottle thanks BrianK for the share. Pours a brown black body with a tan head. Big fruit up front, minty, rusty smoke, and light earthy hop body. Very creamy light minerals, dark fruit, and loads and loads of vanilla. Good brew.

courtesy of googzoid10. Thanks for yet another awesome beer and trade. This is one complex beer that will certainly become huge with age. Every single sip invited one to discover more and more goodness. Pours dark brown with brownish head and light yellow lacing. Aroma offers a smooth nose with good fruits and malts with light smoke and wood. Taste is just pure goodness. Notes of vanilla, dark fruits - dark cherry, raisin -, smooth mouthfeel with roasted malts. Some spices, and a light hoppy finish. There is a strong feel that the beer had some good light smoke and bourbon in it, and all make for one amazing and savoring beer.

Bottle shared by MaxxDaddy. Interesting aroma, lots of mint, banana, tobacco, and a fair amount of smoke. Deep and complex and very enjoyable. Sweet flavor up front, with some very minty, herbal qualities late, cigar/tobacco finish. Again, complex, though I must say that despite the awesome aroma and great flavor of this beer I’m still not that crazy about it. The fresh herbal character is odd and out of place and this is a bit tough to drink as well.

Courtesy of sebletitje, thanks Sebastian. Pours deep brown with copper edges and thin mocha head. The aroma is at first very full with notes of rich dark fruitiness like Concord grape jam, prunes and cherries to go along with a bit of molasses and a light amount of wood like smokiness. The taste is very nice and bold. It starts with wood and a bit of smoke and then sweet molasses, toffee, vanilla and those notes are moving into rich dark fruitiness. Each of these flavors seem to mix together to create a near sweet bourbon sensation. Is this bourbon barrel aged? Very smooth and rich tasting brew.

Bomber. A dark mahogany colored body is topped with a creamy head of dark khaki colored foam. Minimal, spotty lacing noted. The aroma is complex, showing notes of chocolate, anise, vanilla, stewed raisins and figs. A hint of roasted coffee seeps in, followed by dark cherries and traces of creamy vanilla. Depth and complexity aside, there is an odd, plasticy note that I cannot quite place or forgive. Flavors follow suit, chocolate dipped cherries and raisins countered by roast, dark coffee, sharp anise, and earthy hop notes. Again, I pick up a plastic or artificial element that I can’t shake. Medium-full bodied and silky on the tongue, the substantial mouthfeel is a highlight. A promising brew, I’d like to see if some time in the bottle gets rid of the plastic oddity I picked up.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a brief tan head. Nose is raisin, circus peanuts, coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body with light carb. Taste is coconut, molasses, vanilla and coffee. Finishes with a bitter grassy alcohol bite. A good dessert beer.
