Alaskan Baltic Porter is a deep, dense beer with an intricate array of aromas and flavors derived from substantial amounts of specialty malts, dark black cherries and whole gourmet vanilla beans. In order for the British to export their dark ales to the northern ports of the Baltic Sea, they were brewed stronger than normal to endure the long voyage. The extra warmth was welcomed in these countries with harsh winters and a taste for the robust, attributes that also fare well in Alaska.

Alcohol, sour cherries, wood smoke, flavors of milk chocolate, cherries, roast malt. Darkest red brown w/ creamy hot chocolate colored foam. Had some Baltic Baltics in the past, and none as good as this, better balanced and richer

Tasting at mikeds place **Summary** - Alaskan makes some great beers and some so-so beers. This one falls somewhere in the middle. I think that is mainly due to the age. With some time this should develop into a fantastic beer. If you have a bottle I would sit on it for a few more months to see if it improves. **Aroma / Appearance** - Fluid, light and somewhere right on the border of brown and black it smelled of Virgils root beer, vanilla, bananas, and rubber. Excessively sweet I think this one is either young or just flawed. **Flavor / Palate** - Moist banana bread, chocolate, and cheap Hersheys chocolate melded into a passable fluid experience. Fading fast it lacks the depth you would expect from a baltic porter but is not all bad. In the end I would love to give this one some time and try it again.

Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of bananas, raisins, cloves, dark fruit, rich malt, boozy. Tastes of chocolate, bubblegum, figs. Boozy and bitter. Disappointing.

Bomber from bhensonb. This completely opaque black ale poured with a decent bubbly tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a chocolate and vanilla flavor with lots of oak in the finish. It tastes sort of like a chocolate cherry. This is an interesting and delicious brew. Thanks Bill.

22. Pours jet black with a towering, heavily pocked, sudsy tan head that takes foreeeeever to settle so you can finish the pour. Plenty of lace that looks like whipped egg whites. Or egg tans, in this case. Big baking chocolate and cocoa powder presence right from the start of the nose, though the nose is much milder than the mid-palate. A little plum there as well. Creamy medium body, soft carb. Rum, vanilla, baking chocolate, and cocoa powder mid-palate, with a long, dry cocoa finish. Very sweet. Not a refreshing chuggable beer at all, but very nice for sure.

22oz. bomber, 2008 vintage, pours a brownish burgundy with a one finger tan head that maintains a thin covering, minimal lacing. Aroma is ripe dark fruits, rich caramel, vanilla, and some general wood/bourbon, although Im sure this isnt barrel aged in any way, nice nose overall. Flavor is also enjoyable, with more roasted/toasted malts, dark fruits, caramel, and more vanilla and oak. A bit on the sweeter side, but not too much so. A tasty sipper for a cold evening.

Pours dark brown, almost black with a small brown head. Heavy on the carbonation. Aroma is of toasted malt, caramel, dark fruit, booze, and wood. Taste is of toasted almost wooden malt, with notes of chocolate, dark fruit, hops, vanilla, and caramel. Has a nice underlying sweetness. Creamy mouthfeel aided by the very heavy carbonation. Nice warming alcohol feel.

Incredible beer. Must seek out more bottles. Lots of well combined flavors that really work well together. Brings in with it the coffee, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla all wrapped up in a sweet but wonderfully drinkable beer. Nice work from my norther neighbors.

22 oz. bottle. Pours black with a moderate tan head that lsted until mid-glass and left a partial coating of foam. Pleasant aroma of caramel, chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. The flavor is complex and lovely with caramel, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, raisins, and bourbon all present. This is an excellent dessert beer. Definitely sweet, but not excessive, at least for me. Nice silky mouthfeel, not cloying. A slow sipper for sure, to be enjoyed by a fire at the end of an evening. Very nice.

Much sweeter then I was expecting. Vanilla sweet icing/cream flavor, smooth milk chocolate, and toffee. A touch on the sweet side, but still a nice flavor to it.
