3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a thin head on a cloudy light brown colored body.
The aroma is dry wood and dark malt. Interesting.
The taste is wonderful. It’s fairly sweet overall, but less "annoying sweet" than most doppelbocks. There’s definitely a syrup flavor with a background of dry malt sweetness.
The texture is slightly sticky with moderate carbonation.
Well worth trying.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a bit hazy, dark reddish appearance with a light brown head that doesn’t have much retention. A bit smoky, thick molasses, goopy sweet malty, a bit nutty, maple aroma. Fairly sweet, maple, caramel, big sappy molasses, slightly fruity, burnt flavor. A bit big on booze and sweetness, but still pretty tasty.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle. Red-amber color with a white head. The aroma is full of birch and brown sugar. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of caramel and dark fruit notes, as well as some sweetness from the birch sugar. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour on tap, dark brownish pour with white head, aroma brought notes of roast, coffee, slight woody notes with a hint of dark fruits, slight caramel, touch of brown sugar in there with a hint of chocolate. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, slight coffee, chocolate, lots of dark fruits, slight wood, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter. Not bad.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
January 6, 2013 - bottle from AV3. Clear brownish orange pour with large head. Head faded relatively quickly, but left a thin layer that lasted for a bit. Aroma was caramel, dark fruit, hops and a sweetness from the syrup. Taste starts with the caramel and dark fruit, then moves into some bitterness from the hops and finishes with some alcohol and syrupy sweetness. Medium thickness and some carbonation.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Light brown pour w/ lots of slow rising visible carbonation and a little dense tan head w/ some good thick lacing. Light aroma typical of a doppelbock, but less effervescent that I would have expected lots of sweet grains and syrups fairly one dimensional sweet aroma the maple syrup is pretty clearly present. Average body and mouthfeel, a little clingy sweetness stays with the swallow. Flavor is pretty boring. Sweet maple syrup mixed with dopplebock mixed with some water. I can drink it, but I won’t do that again.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber from Discount. Pours a murky brown color with basically no head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt. Flavor is an odd sweet and sour that I didn’t expect in a bock. Palate is smooth and creamy with a full malty finish. Not bad but I don’t think I would get it again.
