3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz. bottle shared by Bunker. Pours a deep amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma has sweet caramel malts, birch syrup that comes off similar to maple but maybe a touch sweeter and ripe fruits. The flavor is ripe fruits, caramel, syrupy, with a hint of wood and roast to add some balance. Still tilted way to the sweet side.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bomber. Pours a dull rusty amber pour with a medium white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of toffee, caramel, birch syrup, cane sugar. Flavor is sweet, sticky, lots of caramel and syrup. Brown sugar, maple syrup, mild raw sugar. The beer is balanced by a slight roastiness and a touch of roastiness from the malt. Full bodied, touch of alcohol towards the finish. Overall, a nice beer that’s a bit too sweet for me.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Very smooth beer. Slightly cloudy but dark copper in color. Residual sweetness from the birtch syrup is very pleasant. Great winter beer. I love the beers from this pilot series.

I agree with Hopscotch. Candied dates really good. This is first rate stuff. Aroma is awesome. Crystal clear copper. Back ground bitterness. Big sweet beer.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
An interesting take on a doppelbock. Definite sweetness from the birch syrup, but not overpowering. I’d happily drink another.
