Normally not a fan of doppelbock. Not that I find it to be bad, but usually just more of a boring style in general. That said, this was a nice suprise. The birch syrup is a very nice touch. Very well executed, this is. Would purchase again.

Alaskan needs to stop making bocks, all of them are so bad .. . some sweet maple and dirty brown gravy powder .. . empty mouth .. . the label is the best thing about this beer .. . . Found 4 unopened beers under my bed, so clearly I have my shit together.

Light haze on this amber - brown beer. Tidy pale tan head. Smooth palate with a crispy trailing edge. Smooth and creamy malt that is also sweetish. Floral sweetness, especially on the back end. Mild minerals. Finishes semi dry with a whisper of bubblegum. Aftertaste is of malty milk and a trace of marmite. Hangs together quite well.

This was fine (italicize fine) but below expectations. Amber where I would have preferred this a little darker, caramelly and a bit syrupy (for flavor) where it needs a little something more. Doesn’t hit the strengths of a German doppelblock; more a bock than a doppelbock. Still, was easy drinking enough and has some interest and layers. Bottle.

Bomber. Poured a clear amber with a thin white top. Flavors of sweet malts, caramel, syrup, and dark fruit. Medium carbonation, medium body. Overall: malty goodness!

Bottle at a tasting. Aroma: Nice caramel and cookie scent. Appearance: Dark amber body, spare head. Taste: Buttery toffee! Delicious stuff. Palate: Full body, kind of sticky. Overall: What a treat! It’s like butter toffee and cookies in a bottle. Definitely recommend.

Poured a thin head on a cloudy light brown colored body. The aroma is dry wood and dark malt. Interesting. The taste is wonderful. It’s fairly sweet overall, but less "annoying sweet" than most doppelbocks. There’s definitely a syrup flavor with a background of dry malt sweetness. The texture is slightly sticky with moderate carbonation. Well worth trying.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a bit hazy, dark reddish appearance with a light brown head that doesn’t have much retention. A bit smoky, thick molasses, goopy sweet malty, a bit nutty, maple aroma. Fairly sweet, maple, caramel, big sappy molasses, slightly fruity, burnt flavor. A bit big on booze and sweetness, but still pretty tasty.
