Alaskan Imperial IPA is a favorite of the Brew Crew and friends in Alaska, though they may remember it as "ALASKAN XTRATUF® IPA." Rich in color and full in flavor, our Imperial IPA is packed with Pacific Northwest hops over a sturdy malt body and the dry warmth of an imperial strength IPA. First brewed as part of our Rough Draft Series, the Pilot Series release allows us to share this draft favorite of the 49th state on shelves and taps in the lower 48.

Picked this beer up in Juneau on a trip in 2011. Pretty hoppy, some floral and piney aromas. Caramel base with an acidic finish.

First off this thoroughly exceeded my expectations. The nose is bright and rich, full of citrus, tropical fruit, pine, and caramel. An intense flavor of citrus, pine, and caramel really come together seamlessly. The balance of sweetness and hopiness is really spot on to my liking. Delicious.

22oz bottle $9. Wow, I split this with two friends and we were unanimous that this sucked. It looked good, orange, decent head and lace. It smelled subpar for something that is supposed to be hoppy. The flavor was very alcoholic and unenjoyable, no hops. Maybe this doesn’t travel well but for $9 I expect a lot more. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-20-2011 22:58:51

Bomber - pours orange with a medium head that dissipates with lacing. Upon first taste, it reminded me of the Alaskan Winter with a sweet piney taste. It’s been a while since I’ve had one so now I guess it’s time to pop another one to compare. Medium to heavy mouthfeel and a creamy mouthfeel.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma if full of citrus fruit, with a ton of orange and pineapple notes. I also get a little bit of biscuit malt. The flavor is also very fruity. I get a ton of pineapple, orange and apricot notes, with just a hint of malt. The bitterness is fairly high due to the lack of malt in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle-Tops liquors in Tempe, AZ-pours lightly hazy orange with a minimal fizzy eggshell head around the rim of the glass as well as rocky bubbles in the middle. nose tends to lean this one towards a barley/wheatwine style. big sweet fruits, sticky hops, resin, some oxidization and toasted carmel malt grains dominate the nose. some sweet alcohol underneath as well. flavors exhibit notes of toasted grains, piney/resinious/earthy hops (but seem muddled since its oxidized), sticky sweetness yet dry resin balances this one out fairly well. Long earthy/herbal hop tones on the finish with lingering toasted malt grain husk notes. Doesnt come together all that well and im surprised this brewery doesnt do better in this style. maybe next batch improvements?

Pours a golden orange with a moderate sized off white head and light lacing. Nose of citrus hops. Medium in body. The flavor is mild hops and caramel malts. Bitter finish. Not a lot going on here and the only imperial aspect of this beer is the alcohol..
