COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alaskan Imperial IPA is a favorite of the Brew Crew and friends in Alaska, though they may remember it as "ALASKAN XTRATUF® IPA." Rich in color and full in flavor, our Imperial IPA is packed with Pacific Northwest hops over a sturdy malt body and the dry warmth of an imperial strength IPA. First brewed as part of our Rough Draft Series, the Pilot Series release allows us to share this draft favorite of the 49th state on shelves and taps in the lower 48.

My first from Alaskan and a bit disappointing. For a DIPA the aroma was week. What I got was some malt and a touch of metal. It looked good with an amber pour and a lacing head. The flavor was decent with a malt taste up front followed by the hops in the back. Nice after taste that lingered.

Bomber. Great looking, clear copper with crunchy, lasting cover and nice bubbly body. Big aromas of banana, pineapple, orange and mango. Wow the taste is the same, but that isn’t necessarily a good thing. Lots of banana and caramel on the front. The resin and citrus can’t rescue the sweetness. Medium body is smooth and a little hot, but overall drinkable except for the sweetness.

22 oz. bottle- Pours somewhat cloudy orange with a 1 finger head and a nice blanket of foam coating the glass. Aroma is sweet malt, little hops, not alot there. The taste is malty up front, then bitterness settles in, followed by more sweet malt. There is no pine or grapefruit, it is mostly caramel malt and bitter hops. Not my favorite taste in the style. Carbonation is high, body is medium. Have had better, including the one I drank just before this, Sierra Nevada beer camp DIPA.

Pours a bronze color with a tall head that lingers. Smells of semi sweet malt, biscuits and citrus rind. Full nectar with superb carbonation. A tad bit sweet up front while the hop sequences on the mid to sidelines. The finish lingers very long indeed. A nice brew.

22oz bomber, pours with a huge 3-4 finger white head with a crisp body and lots of heavy lacing. aroma is very sweet, not hoppy at all, smells like an old ale or barleywine with a hint of dusty old malts in there. the taste is similar but with some hop flavors and moderate bitterness. overall very sweet and malty, but pretty tasty still, more like an imperial red almost i would say. has a slight;ly lingering syrypy sweetness that lingers on the palate, its good, but it detracts a lil bit.

22 oz. bomber from Beverages4less in Santee. Finally, and thankfully, an IIPA that restores my faith in IIPAs. Ruby amber pour with big white head. Yeast chunks that settle nicely into the bottom of the tulip. Nose mixture of pinetree and tropical hops, and light maltiness. Flavor is much more tropical than pinetree. Sharp but round in the mouth. Bite in the back of alcohol, but not painfully so. Enjoyed while snacking on pineapple, and while it wasn’t a perfect match, it was pretty good. Another nice beer from Alaskan.

Sampled on 4/16/2011. This Imperial IPA pours a medium amber orange color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is fruit and sweet, mangos, orange, piney and citrusy. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and slightly tropical. The hops are citrusy, piney and floral. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Very nice very drinkable Imperial IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle. Nice thick head on dark amber. Light woody hop scent. Big thick body, almost cloying. Moderat hops for a DIPA although they grow in the finish. A bit of lasting mint.

Bottle @ home. Ruby orange appearance with a light tan head. Fresh piney, mildly citrusy, potent nose. Creamy and nice, full sweet pale malty flavor over a piney and citrusy hoppy taste. Lingering mildly bitte fresh hoppy taste.

650 ml bottle from bev4less. (Drink by 08-13-11coded on label) Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a small beige head that has fair retention. The aroma is light with oranges and lemons. The flavor is biter hops forward with good citrusy hops, pine, sweet caramel and biter walnuts. The palate is silky smooth and malty with soft carbonation. Finishes long with lingering hop resins. Overall: This taste of this kinda reminds me of a ramped-up version of SNPA, me likey.
