3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a reddish dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is better than the taste. Caramel, sweet malt, biscuit, some pine. The aftertaste is a little off to me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep red and slightly hazy-small head. Nose is citrus, fruits and herbs, grapefruit, deep caramel and a touch of roast malt. Flavor is similar. Finishes lightly sweet but an assertive bitterness that doesn’t linger too long. Full body and caramel malty rich. Interesting. could have used more hops overall.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from bomber, dark amber with red hue, nice medium off white-light tan head. Nice sweet malty nose with floral notes. Taste was balanced toward sweetness and just a hint of spice. Medium bodied, a bit sticky with good carbonation, nice finish. Good strong ale, doesn’t have that strong boozieness.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bottle, $8.99. I bought this because I really like hoppy red ales but I almost never find any good ones. . I feel like all of Alaskan’s pilot series is disappointing except for the barleywine. This was no exception. Smells nice and hoppy. Clear, garnet colored, huge head, some lace. Flavor is strong alcohol, bitter hops, malty. The alcohol flavors really detract from this. I should have known better.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Pours a hazy amber with a medium collapsing beige head with lots of big ugly bubbles. Aroma is super caramelly with some citrusy hops along for the ride. Taste starts out a little malty sweet before some real bitterness sets in. Not bad for what it is, but I was expecting more given the scores on here. As a sidenote, I just had a New Belgium Rampant and thought it was superior, but it’s getting lower scores on here (same goes for the yummy Dogfish/SN collaboration Rhizing Bines). It just goes to show that you can never really trust the scores on here too much. Maybe I just have weird tastes, though.
