3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Murky copper/mahogany with a medium frothy taupe crown that leaves plenty of splotchy lace behind. Aroma is bready and sweet with dough, toffee, caramel, citrus, grapefruit and some herbal notes. Taste is sweet and citrusy with toffee, herbal notes, mild pine, oranges and tea. Alcohol hidden well with a moderate bitter finish. A touch under carbonated.

Pours a clear crimson red with a finger of light cream foam and some spotty lace. Smells of citrus, grapefruit, spiced malts, some tea and a bit more of the centennial and cascades - this is a nice nose. Bitter, malty, spicy and hoppy - layered with nice complex malts and a good dry bitterness, along comes some pine and resin with a hint of grapefruit rind and a little touch of pekoe. Medium bodied with moderated, prickly carb and a wet finish. This is a nice surprise - Alaskan Brewing is like my permanent sleeper; so many great beers, so little sincere appreciation.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
In short: A malty and moderately hoppy red ale with a weird (to me) blood-like flavor. Meh.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed relatively fresh soon after receiving it from mcberko, thanks a lot Matt.
The look: Clear ruby-bronze body toppd by a persistent small beige head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is coniferous hops, overripe strawberries (!), various red berries, an overall dank sensation, In mouth the beer has a rich body with a medium carbonation. Taste is hit and miss. Sweet berries jam, hard candies, caramel, bloody red meat, coniferous hops with a little spicy edge. Heavy on the malt front and rather sweet from start to finish. Once again I was bothered by a blood-like flavor in a beer labelled as “Red Ale”, I seem to have a low tolerance for something in many“red ale”. Looks like most people liked this beer, I don’t care that a large number of Americans gave high ratings to this beer, a large number of Americans also elected GW Bush, twice.

Bang on imperial red, sent from craftshack.Very drinkable after a long hot busy day, but really many brewers could have made this same thing. Tangy and malty and bigger mouthfeel. Lots of head and lace.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle:   Ruby in color, fairly dark, large frothy sandy head, super nice lacing.   Sweet citrus and pithiness on the nose.   A bit more hoppy than sweet on the tongue.   Strong sweet pith and citrus peel overall.
Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Feels pretty viscous at times.   Finishes with a strong citrus based hoppiness, malty, slightly sweet, and overall a tasty example of a big Red/Amber Ale.   Not as malty as I
would have thought, but decent enough.   Certainly more hop than malt, but thats okay.   Enjoyable example at least.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber purchased at Distillers Outlet in Poway ($8.49). Pours a nice garnet-red hue with two fingers of beige foam. Aroma of sweet-ish malts, wet pine forest, some citrus, honey, and floral hops. Flavor of pine sap, nutty caramel, bitter and semi-sweet citrus, brewed dark tea, and some sticky dark fruit. Though the hops are quite noticeable, this has only moderate bitterness. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. The relatively high ABV is utterly concealed here. Solid imperial red ale. (70, 796)

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location/Date:Bottle on June 28th, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a dark red haze.
Aroma: Aroma of lemon and light grapefruit.
Taste: Medium bitterness, pine, orange, caramel on the end.
Palate:Medium body, slightly slick, no carbonation, lingering aftertaste.
Summary: I am always a sucker for this style. This one is more accesible than some of the more aggresive ones, has a nice amount of flavor. Kind of wish aroma was more hop laden.
