Copper gold with off-white head. Aroma is predominantly topical citrus hop with a hint of jalapeno. Flavor is sweet citrus hop and caramel malt. Bitter hoppy finish which gives way to a lingering sweet. This bottle was not spicy; but there was a jalapeno in the flavor; very nice beer. Special thanks for my wife and her friend Melissa who went to great lengths to get this bottle from Seattle to Baltimore!

Thanks to Maxbier for sharing this one. Pours copper color with white head. Fruity pineapple aroma with some Jalapeño spiciness. Sweet malty start with tropical fruit flavors of pineapple and mango. Citrusy finish with some pepper flavor. Not much heat from peppers.

A darker rich malty base and adequate juicy hops greet the nose. Probably their best IpA, peppers or not. Hoppy and sweet and big, yet balanced. Which is good, cause the pepper is pretty underwhelming. Nearly undetectable in the nose and light in flavor. Decent additional flavor, no heat (except for the alcohol). Liked the beer but wanted more peppers

As of late I can not find the time to take tasting notes of each beer I sample. I would like to track and record my thoughts of each so I will just use the simple scoring rubric until more time is available.

Jalapeño ipas are touch. They usually go one of two ways, and are rarely balanced. This unfortunately fell onto the too malty and green jalapeño flavor with no appreciable spice or heat.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Spec’s, 5/25/14, shared by me at dbarnolds

Aroma: Light jalapeño on the aroma, to go along with plenty of pine and citrus hops
Appearance: The pour is dark amber-gold, with a mid-sized white head
Flavor: The taste is much the same, pine and citrus hops, light sweetness, light pepper
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it has a soft carbonation, and a decent mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Light jalapeño on a nice IPA. I thought this worked pretty nicely. Good job here by Alaskan. I liked it.

Bottle:   Jalapeno spiced nose.   Not much else, albeit its not terribly strong which is nice.   Soft Jalapeno flavors along with some minor hop notes.   Not real strong for 8.5%.   Actually seems like a Jalapeno IPA, not a Double IPA.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Tiz okay, pretty ho-hum.   Thankfully its not over done, decent balance, but could be more Double IPA like, and perhaps if it were, more Jalapeno like.   Really seems like a lighter IPA.

Smells just like jalapenos. Pours clear copper. Tastes like a damn good pale ale loaded with jalapenos. Finishes crystaline sugar sweet and with jalapeno taste.

Best before July 30, 2014, this edition is 8.5% abv. It pours a clear reddish gold with a 1 finger head of foam. Ooh, them hops smell nice. Lots of grapefruit with some pine mixed in and then the jalapeno moved in. The smell is delicious. I don’t get as much of that hoppy goodness in the taste as the jalapenos dominate. I also get a bready malt flavour that I didn’t get in the smell as well as an earthy feel. The taste is pretty much 180 from the smell. The heat is mild but the alcohol is a tad too noticeable; should be the other way around. Nice mouthfeel here but drinkability is on the lower side. Overall, me thinks it’s a good brew that could have been close to awesome if it tasted like it smelled. Sorry to harp on that.

Smooth, not hot, but had good jalapeño flavor. Would not drink multiple beers of this, but with the taste.
