Bomber, thanks brenn79. Aroma is roasty, pumpkin pie spices, raisins, molasses, chocolate. Pours an extremely dark brown, near black, with red highlights; has a beige head that falls fairly fast. Taste is sweet, spicy and savory. Has a licorice component to the flavor. Mouthfeel is a little oily, a little creamy; body is medium to full. Excellent pumpkin beer, exceeding my expectations. Addendum: I had to up my aroma score a point. It really opens up after a bit. A nice (above average) meaty pumpkin pie aroma, similar to Pumking, comes out after warming up a bit.

Best by 01.14.15.
Poured from a 12 oz into a beer can glass on 10.09.14.
A: Lots of pumpkin, brown sugar, and chocolate.
A: Fizz quickly recedes to a ring. Midnight black body with some red in the glass.
T: Pumpkin and chocolate dominate. Brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a slight woodiness are subtle.
P: Watery but it’s a porter. Nice fizzy bubbles on the tongue. Crisp.
O: The head wasn’t great. but this a fantastic pumpkin porter.

This slightly transparent brown red beer has a somewhat mild aroma. It has a slightly spicy flavor but the pumpkin flavor comes through just enough to make this a very interesting porter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Btl pours clear deep dark brown color with a tight small tan head that disappears quickly leaving no lace. Big aroma of holiday spice: nutmeg, cinnamon, clove. Tastes of sweet malt, nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate and clove. Just a hint of fresh gourds in the background. Medium body, adequate carbonation, tingling almost astringent mouthfeel and a dry slightly bitter finish. A very nice pumpkin beer, that does not go overboard on the spices and you can actually taste pumpkins.

Check this off the Want List. The first thing that strikes me is the aroma as soon as I open the bottle. Pumpkin, herbal, and spices that follow through into the flavor. A very easy drinking Pumpkin beer that I could continue to drink all night. Very easy on the palette.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The pumpkin porter pours a dark grape nearly black color with a thin tan head that doesn’t last too long but leaves plenty of evidence of its existence behind. The aroma is pumpkin, spice and caramel. The flavor is caramel initially, which is immediately overwhelmed with pumpkin and spices.

Looks and tastes like a porter should with a taste of pumpkin to go with it. I like porters in the winter (Jan-Feb ’round here) and this ain’t that time. Got this to compare with other pumkin ales but this one is not exactly qualified to be in the Halloween Pumpkin Ale challange. Good stuff but not a Halloween brew, more for Christmas time. Will be drinking the rest of these with a slice of homemade pumpkin pie at Christmas dinner this year.

This is a subtle style PP. Pours coffee-black w/tan head. Subtle spices on the nose - mace, cinnamon - a full-bodied porter. Roasted, light-chocolate palate, w/dry, carbonated, refreshing finish. Overall, this is a good porter w/a very subtle pumkin/spice treatment.
