COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alaskan Raspberry Wheat is an American-style Wheat Ale that highlights the bright flavors and inviting aroma of more than 3,000 pounds of real raspberries added during fermentation. Years of local demand through Alaskan’s Rough Draft program of draft-only releases and a Silver medal from the 2008 Great American Beer Festival make Alaskan Raspberry Wheat the perfect brew to launch the Alaskan Pilot Series.

Tap at Republic. Red color. Smells like raspberry kool aid. Read raspberry flavor and dry. I cant drink much of it but but does seem to be real fruit.

Location: Bottle from Central Market - Houston, 7/23/13

Aroma: The nose isn’t that big, it has some fruitiness, obviously plenty of raspberry, and some malts
Appearance: It pours a hazed reddish-orange color with an off-white head and some decent lace
Flavor: The taste is medium-plus sweet, with lots of sweet raspberry, and a mild tartness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has an alright feel, plus carbonation, and a mildly tart finish
Overall Impression: I’m not usually a fan of beers this fruity, but I thought this one worked all right. There’s definitely something interesting here. It may be quite sweet, but it has some pretty good components to it. Not a great beer, but solid for sure.

Aroma of primarily raspberries with hints of grain. Pours a hazy purplish punchbowl amber with a rapidly dissipating purple tinted head and no lacing. The taste is slightly tart. Tart raspberries initially followed by a biscuity finish. There is a hint of pepper thrown in mix. The side of the tongue feel the tartness while the top of the tongue enjoys the continued biscuit/bread aftertaste. Medium body and crisply mild carbonation. Overall, while I wouldn’t want to drink more than one at a setting, I can see where this could be a nice change of pace on a hot afternoon.

Good overall flavor, a bit too much of a bitterness in the aftertaste from the raspberries to make it better. -- rated via 'Find A Beer' for Blackberry 10
