COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alaskan Raspberry Wheat is an American-style Wheat Ale that highlights the bright flavors and inviting aroma of more than 3,000 pounds of real raspberries added during fermentation. Years of local demand through Alaskan’s Rough Draft program of draft-only releases and a Silver medal from the 2008 Great American Beer Festival make Alaskan Raspberry Wheat the perfect brew to launch the Alaskan Pilot Series.

Poured into a pint glass. 2.5 A: Moderately hazed orange amber color. Two fingers of frothy beige/tan head. Retention is poor and no lacing is left. 3.5 S: Smells just like raspberry cider or something along those lines. Lots of raspberry, but not a lot of "beer." Still, it smells good enough. 3.0 T: It tastes like beer, but not a very impressive one. Standard, neutral maltiness. Enough raspberry to give some flavor and a mild tartness, but not enough to make its addition work (unlike NG RT). 3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good higher end carbonation. Not very creamy, but crisp. 3.0 D: Drinkable, but not something you’d buy again. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-09-2012 02:46:25

Beer is an ugly reddish brown with a very thin head. No lacings on the glass. Sour raspberries and some maltiness in both the aroma and body. Wheat provides good support but finish is peppery and sourness needs washed away. Best served very cold.

On draft at Papago. Bright reddish pour with little to no head, rasberries are present, good carbonation. A little grainy, but decent overall.

Bomber thanks to Mike. Pours a mostly clear reddish hue with a medium white head. A nice sweet berry nose. The flavor is mostly clean with grains, earthiness and a big burst of berries. Very mellow overall. Decent.

Thanks to Shig, pours pink with a white head. Aroma is big fruit, loads of berries. Flavor is soft wheat and berries ending mildly sweet but not cloying.

22oz bottle thanks to Mike
Appearance: Clear reddish amber with floaties (yeast?) and a small white head. Aroma and taste of raspberries and wheat with some tartness. A decent wheat beer.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber, thanks to Mike. Bright raspberry, tart raspberry, dough. This beer surprised me, not sweet our syrupy.

22 oz. bottle. Pours dark amber reddish color with a soft white head. Aroma is a good mix of malt wheat and raspberries. Taste is about the same with the malt and wheat really showing and the raspberries standing out more towards the finish and just a tinge of tartness. Palate is thin to medium with a dry finish. Really would like to see the raspberries be more dominate!

Date: July 3, 2012 Mode: Bottle Source: AV3 Description: Semi-opaque cloudy orangish red with some head and spotty lacing. Aroma was raspberry and grain. Taste was pretty much the same with a slightly soapy bitter finish and aftertaste. Thin to medium bodied with plenty of carbonation. This had a good level of sweetness to it, but a little more tart/sour would have been nice.

Massive raspberry bomb here, sweet through and through without much wheat beer coming through. Still, the tartness of the berries provides a bit of a reprieve from the sweetness, but one pint is more than enough.
