The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

2013 edition, bottle. Pours in black body with high creamy tan head. Aroma has dark fruits, heavy roasty, light toffee. On the taste side, it’s pretty roasty, like bacon with low to medium earthy bitterness, the bacon is long in the after taste. Some coffee notes in the after taste, light on any sweetness. Body is full, light oily, medium to high carbonation. Not very well balanced in my opinion.

Czekolada i solidne nuty palone zdominowały odczucia węchowe. Smak to dopiero ogień!

Vintage of 2008. 65 cl bottle. Drinking 9/05/2014. Black and opaque color, has fine cream-colored foam. The aroma of smoked highlighted, old smoked ham, coffee, raisins, other dried fruits, peat and а hint of Scotch. Taste very velvety, soft, pleasant, and slightly warming, coffee, dark chocolate, sherry and old whiskey, smoked salmon and bacon. Perfect balance, great beer.

Bottle, 650mL. Home. A pitch blach beer with big beige creamy head ; good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, burnt, light smoky, herbal, dry fruit. Medium sweet, medium herbal bitter, abit dry. Medium body and texture, average carbonation, bittersweet lasting finish. Overall, really good "smoked porter" ; nevertheless, more "burnt" than "smoked".

Gedronken op onze bier proefavond. Één van de eerste smoked bieren die me goed bevalt.

Bottle. Pours an opaque black with a high, fluffy, lacy, light tan head. Nose is smoke, rubber, coffee, chocolate, ash, and wet earth. On the tongue, the smoke is intense, but balanced; it’s very forward, followed by espresso and earthy notes. Not much sweetness at all, though there’s a little molasses and maple hanging around the edges just to keep it from being overwhelming. Really round, rich, and smooth on the tongue, with a long smoky finish. Intensely tasty.

2014 Bottle stamped A2014.
Glass: Tired Hands wine glass.
Appearance: Black body with a creamy mocha head.
Aroma: The aroma is strong of smoke left on clothes after a campfire with a dash of bitter dark chocolate. Aromas of coffee are present, though subdued. The smoke is strong here but not out of order.
Taste: Smoke is prominent, like campfire, that lingers long after the sip. The malt base is a bit mild with hints of chocolate and roasted malts. The body and flavor isn’t as robust as the aroma though.
Palate: Medium to thick bodied, mild to moderate carbonation.
Overall: A darn fine smoked beer, one I would like to find on my local liquor store shelves. I wish the body had a little more umph to it though as well as the malt characteristic.
