COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

Pours an almost oily looking color. Used oil. thin off-white, creamy head. Fades quickly and leaves ample lacing behind. Let’s get a whiff of this. Hmm. Smoke. Didn’t see that one coming. A little malt and a bit of alder. Oily. Tastes much like the aroma at first. Smoky and smoky. A bit dry, but ample sweetness to balance it out. A very viscous mouth feel. A good mixture of dryness mixed with the sweetness in the mouth as well. Overall a very, very good beer. I wish I could get more of this and horde it. That and get a bit fresher to compare. I drank an ’08 ’vintage’.

Pours a jet black with coffe and cream colored head that is short lived. Nice lacing. Caramel and raisin aromas then smoke. Smoky taste and aroma but balanced not overpowering. Very Nice.

Wirklich gut. 11/12/13/13/13/12

Same bottle as pictured, Beer was really tasty stuff, pours black, aroma of smoke, taste is really nice, the smoke flavour is not terriblely over power and the malts that come through arent too much like other porters they are kind of sweet. Very tasty stuff recommend a taste

Had a flight of 02-04-08-10, I thought the 02 had the most distinct scent. The 08 and 10 has a sweeter taste than the other two.

Bottle. Had a flight of the 2002, 2004, 2008, and 2010 vintages. Very dark brown almost black pour. Minimal white head. Nice smoky nose, medium palate, and pretty much just a straight up smoked true porter flavor that fnishes slightly dry. Older vintages have the smoke recede a bit and the alcohol emerges.

A: The beer pours a dark brown color with some reddish hues and a short lived khaki head. S: Big time smokiness to the nose with an intense saltiness and woodiness. There’s a slightly meaty aroma to it, too. Some roasted malts and a hint of sweetness underneath, perhaps toffee. T: As expected, huge smokiness on the palate. Burnt wood and ash with plenty of roasted malt flavor to it as well. A slight chalkiness to the flavor and only a minimal toffee sweetness to the beer. M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation. O: The smokiness didn’t work well with the other flavors here, it just takes over and really dries out the mouth.

Ordered this from one of the Oregon bottle shops. Served in a Jackie O’s snifter Pours a very dark brown and is nearly opaque. Good off white head with a bit of lacing and a good collar as it goes down. The nose brings quite a bit of smoked malt and a bit of meaty bacon. There’s also a slight amount of roast. Flavor is dominated by smoke and meat with a nice roasted malt backing. Medium body with a nice dry finish. Waited awhile to try this and it did not disappoint.
