The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

2004 bottle acquired while in Seattle. Appearance is black with a dark tan head. Aroma is smoke, similar to smoked bacon or other meat. Taste is similar to the aroma with the added benefit of typical porter tastes. Strong malt presence and smooth considering the heavy smoke taste. Very well balanced, and while the smoke flavor is definitely predominant it is balanced within the beer. I was very pleased with this beer and would like to see more breweries try it, since I can’t obtain this beer often.

Bottle at RichTheVillan’s tasting, 27/11/13. Clear dark brown, nice head leaves good lace. Rounded savoury smoke and sweet roast malt on the nose, touch of peat. Moderate sweet, chocolate, light coffee, dark toffee malt, medium hop bitterness, very dry finish, luscious smoky character. Very smooth, creamy, maybe a touch too spritzy but incredibly drinkable.

Corpo medio, poco carbonata. Davvero buona

Sampled from a bottle, this beer had a dark brown-black pour and gave a tan, chocolate shake one to two finger head of bubbles that receded to a cover and ring, it left nice spots and fingers of lacing on the glass, it had aromas of a wood fire smoke, toasted malt and some roasted malt, coffee, a touch of oily smoke, some malt and brown sugar sweetness in the background, the flavor was wood fire and oily smoke, toasted malt and a little roasted malt, black coffee, faint caramel and chocolate, there was a little malt and/or hop bitterness after the finish, the mouth feel was light medium and creamy on the lips, and it had average carbonation, a very smokey porter, smoke was out front on the nose and flavor, a nice blend of a smoke drink.
