COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

Aroma - I'm not in love with the aroma; a little smoke and a hint of hops. Appearance - dark, dark brown; almost opaque. Creamy light tan head that lingers long and laces heavily. Taste - smoke, smoke, and more smoke. I can't really taste the beer for the the smoke. It's like sipping a bottle of liquid smoke, trailing away to something slinky that I can't identify. Mouthfeel - pleasant, slightly grassy thinness. Worth trying. Not my favorite, but certainly interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Apex. 2012 vintage. A: Deep black, cappuccino head, good lacing. N: Band-aids, campfire ashes, some cocoa, bacon fat, and a hint of lactose. T: Big smoke, good sweetness. M: Medium-heavy body. A touch creamy. O: After the Baltique, this one is appreciably less rich. The smoke elements are still there, but it does fall short in comparison. At the same time, this is a venerable beer and it’s still worth your time, especially aged.

22oz bomber. Smells like salmon smoker minus the fish. One of best brews around. Smoke roast coffee toffee, all in nose and taste, rich mouthfeel and just overall great brewski

Brown/black with a half inch of tan head. Aroma is phenolic and smoky with chocolate. Taste is the same, and finishes in band aid.

Merveilleuse!

Bottle: Black center with some translucent, deep mahogany & ruby outlining the edges; a fine, light-tan film quickly disperses on top. Lovely aroma of sweet, smoked sausages & ham, sweet campfire smoke, peated malt, roast, faint molasses, & a bit of charcoal. Just a down & dirty smoked beer, but I love how the smoke show so much intensity & refinement all at once. Never overbearing. Same goes for the flavor. Smooth smoke & roast. Smoky meat & charred hickory sausages, with a moderately sweet liquid smoke undertone. Slight, burnt chocolate peaks in towards the finish. Aftertaste is like waking up and sniffing your fire-pit the morning after a campfire. Spent wood chips, smoked, charred, & ever so slightly sweet. Smooth, medium body with a mild oiliness. This is a truly awesome smoked porter.
