2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 lb4lb (2021) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAY 19, 2008
Bottle courtesy of Bitterbill in trade. Thanks!
Pours black with a lasting light tan head. Smell is unique, but with some thin chocolate and some sort of creamy "greenness" to it like an unripe banana. Taste is very lightly roasted thin malt and some metallic notes and an odd green tartness. Mouthfeel is lacking and is too thin as is the flavor. Just a very strange beer, overall.

The bottle says that it is an oatmeal stout. Slightly sweet, nice balance, but not very heavy. Alaskan seems to be somewhat light for every beer type. It is not my favorite brewery.

Dark brown to black in color with a decent tan head. Oatmeal in the smell and the in the taste. Malty with a little bit off of coffee. Medium body. A little caramel.

Bottled. Poured damn near black with a short cap of tan head. The aroma picked up a very nice blend of sweeter chocolates, oats, faint coffee, and lactic sweetness. The flavor was very sweet as well with milk chocolate and caramel at the core.. light coffee and earthy bitterness surrounding.. bit of a lactic bite on the short-ish finish. Medium-bodied and sweet on the palate with just too much carbonation interrupting the flow. Very easy drinking and tasty.. would make a good every day stout.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 vulcanmeister (129) - La Grande, Oregon, USA - APR 18, 2008
Poured dark reddish brown with aroma of butterscotch, vanilla, and coffe.First taste was sweet and creamy and too much carbonation.Bitter chocolate quickly came to the front.Oatmeal flavour was disapointingly absent. Finish was heavy roasted malt and bitter chocolate. Oveall, a drinkable brew, but somewhat lacking in lingering complexity.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BuckeyeBoy (2138) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 6, 2008
12oz Bottle pours out a almost black topped with a very small tan head. Aroma of chocolate and a light roast. Tast more of the light sweetness and some of the roast. A little bitter on the end but not much. A pretty good brew.
