3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 shigadeyo (2394) - Harrison, Ohio, USA - JUN 1, 2007
6/01/2007: Alaskan Stout pours a very dark brown ans is nearly opaque. It has a quickly diminishing brown crown. Roasted malt, chocolate, some smoke, hint of vanilla, and an interesting sweet syrupy alcohol comprise the promising aroma. The flavor delivers much of the the same qualities as the aroma with the addition of some deep caramel and hints of coffee mid-palate. Moderately sweet with a mild dry finish that slowly trails of and leaves a lingering sweet, roasty (coffee-like), and delicately smoky aftertaste. There is even a touch of sweet anise/licorice flavor that also lingers in the aftertaste... This beer is nicely balanced and has some depth without being overly complex. Medium-light to medium body with minimal carbonation. Smooth and super easy to drink despite being so dark and roasty. Very good. I could easily drink bottle after bottle of this beer and quite thoroughly enjoy each one!
12 oz bottle from bitbucket via trade (Nov 2006). Thank you Bob!

12oz bottle from LarryPitonka. Aroma: roasted malt and oatmeal with notes of chocolate and cream. Some light dark fruits and toasted nuts, too. Appearance: Black in color with no highlights. Dark beige head was full and frothy with good retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Good roasted malt with a noticeable oat characteristic. Coffee, chocolate, light smoke, cream, and dark fruits. Finishes a little sweet with some light roast carrying over. Palate: Medium-light bodied. Moderate carbonation. Overall: Very smooth and drinkable stout. A little more depth and some body would make this even better.

12 oz bottle VIA Saarlander (thanks man!). Pours black with a large head. Nose is oaty..is that a word? ANyway that is what i smell. I quite enjoy the taste of this. It is flavorful, yet all the flavors are subtle. There is a bit of roastiness, the oats take center stage, and are complemented by some chocolate malts, and some floral hops. Carbonation is light to medium, as is the body. This is a very nice, easy drinking, sessionable stout.

Bottle thanks to Degarth. Dark pour with thin head. Aroma is of roasted malt, sweet milk chocolate, molasses, tobacco. Flavor is sweet with a thick syrupy like taste. I served it too cold, this one needs to warm up. As it did it was very smooth and drinkable.
