The unique blend of the oats and malts in Alaskan Stout produce a balanced, smooth beer with hints of chocolate, coffee and caramel.

Typical stout appearance, near black with tan foamy head. Roasted malts, oatmeal, sugar, earthy hop aromas. Light bitterness, but lingers in the back of the mouth. Medium to heavy bodied, foamy mouth.

Apparently Iím supposed to fill this out. Take the numbers that I put down with a grain of salt if you will, but Iím just your average NW beer junkie looking to sample as many different brews as possible.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a rich brown chunky look and a thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, milk, cherries, a touch of coffee, nuts and a bit of caramel. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasty flavour with a lot of chewy chocolate and light spice notes strong up front. Aftertaste fades into a bit of raisins, some grapes, a little lactic flavour and some cherries touch off a bit of vanilla. Overall, a nice stout with a good body and a subtle but pleasant complexity. I sampled this twelve ounce stubby bottle purchased from La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 23-June-2011 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-August-2012.

Pours near black w/ a small thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, some grains near oaty, light milk chocolate and other lactose like notes. Full well coated palate. Flavor of milk chocolate some lightly roasted coffee and roast notes. I didnít expect much and was very pleasantly surprised. A very well done smooth stout with a nice sweet lactose sugar finish. I really enjoyed it.

Very dark black with a tan head, good carbonation and medium mouth feel, starts milky sweet then adds chocolate, and later cereal-like qualities from the oats.

Tap @ Taphouse Grill, Seattle. Nice creamy fully lasting head. Color is close to black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, chocolate, licorice, caramel and hops.

Decent, with a modestly dry backbone holding together a mocha-tinged sweetness. The oatmeal eases out the texture, leaving the brew velvety despite its thin appearance. Finishes dry and quick. Not enough of the big-bad stout flavors for me in this bottle; it could be great with just a few tweaks. Still worth trying, though.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark black with a slight red hue and a decent one inch tan head that lasts. Taste is of chocolate, smoke, roasted malt, caramel, wood, hops, raisins, and some fruit. Has a decent body that is a bit chewy. The finish is a bit dry and somewhat bitter. Good, but not great.

Pours an opaque black with a very thin brown head. Aroma is light and consists of oats and lightly roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt, oats, chocolate, and brown sugar but is fairly basic overall. Light to medium body with medium carbonation. Light and basic for a stout. Not great overall.
