Thanks to Saarlander for this one via Mystery Swap 2.0. Pours onyx with a 1-finger tan head. Aroma of roasted dark patent malt, dark fruit, cacao, slight nuts, molasses. Tastes roasty, malty, with some blackberry, raisin, nut, molasses, dark chocolate, and finishing hops. Stays roasty, and seems to get a tad drier as it warms, with more plum and blackberry notes then.

Bottle poured a translucent deep dark brown nearly black with a creamy lasting brown head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and a hint of licorice. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a watery finish. Flavors of roasted malt, bitter chocolate and light coffee with a smooth dry watery roasty finish.

Bottled. Poured damn near black with a short cap of tan head. The aroma picked up a very nice blend of sweeter chocolates, oats, faint coffee, and lactic sweetness. The flavor was very sweet as well with milk chocolate and caramel at the core.. light coffee and earthy bitterness surrounding.. bit of a lactic bite on the short-ish finish. Medium-bodied and sweet on the palate with just too much carbonation interrupting the flow. Very easy drinking and tasty.. would make a good every day stout.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jerc (5580) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 28, 2007
Bottle courtesy of Mabel’s parents. Black body with a small tan head. Sweet malt aroma, light roast with a hint of smoke that may be from the beer or still stuck to the glass from the Alaskan Porter sampled prior. Surpisingly bitter flavour was unexpected, with a health dose of underlying roast and very bitter dark chocolate. Average palate is thin for a stout. Interesting, but not their best. 6/3/6/3/12

Bottle. No big deal. expected a bit more from a legendary brewer. Didn’t get much though. thin and light. Manages to do OK in the taste department. Lightly roast, simple caramel and chocolate, lightly sweet, light.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - MAR 17, 2004
black with a huge tan head with no lacing. The aroma is very roasty and sweet with some caramel and chocolate milk, the dark malts are solid with some coffee and caramel along with that trademart oat/flaked barley creamyness. The flavor is very well balanced with some sweet leftover sugars mixed with the roastyness and a light touch of bitter hops. Very well balanced, delicious.
