UPDATED: NOV 20, 2008 Bottle (BB Mar/2009). Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, husks), trace hops (flowers), with a light note of vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, husky. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation. Dull aroma. Vegetal/husky. Ehhh.

Nearly opaque with ruby highlights. Topped with a large creamy tan head and excellent lacing. The aroma hints of chocolate, caramel, coffee, oats, burnt malts, aromatic hops and dusty yeast esters. The taste starts sweet and then develops a twangy and fruity nature. Smoky and acidic on the finish. Overall it is complex but still lacks a solid punch. A touch thin, but creamy and enjoyable monuthfeel, dry finish. A good stout and nice to try once. Will seek this out again in the far away future. Thanks loweredsixth for the brew.

Totally black color. Large tan head. Aroma is chocolate and malts. A medium bodied stout. Lightly roasted malts. Light chocolate, coffee and toffee flavors. Slightly fruity. The taste improves as it warms. Kind of a disappointing beer from these guy, expected better. Drinkable, but there are lots of better stouts out there. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter,

Bottle (12oz). from blankboy. Poured slighly fizzy murky dark brown-black with an average fizzy-creamy light brown head. Deep roasty coffee and dark chocolate malt aroma, plenty of hops, and some sweet cola notes too. Taste is quite lactic - like a coca cola float - with enough hops and strong coffee bitterness to balance -not bad, but a little thin, some lemony sourness develops. Mouthfeel is quite lively, a little light bodied, yet still creamy. A decent, if light, and lemony stout.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at John’s Marketplace in Portland, Oregon. Pours an opaque dark reddish brown brew with a thin tan head that slowly dissolves. Aroma of dark roasted malt, some dark chocolate, dark pitted fruits and a touch of molasses. Taste is full bodied, very lightly carbonated with a smooth and creamy texture. Nice flavors of oatmeal, dark chocolate and toasted malt. Finish is semi-sweet with a slight chocolate aftertaste.

Sample at the Super Terrific Stout Tasting on Feb 16th. This brew is a brownish-black color with a medium light tan head that diminishes steadily. Patches of lacing on the glass. Toasted grain and malt aroma with a bit of coffee. Medium, smooth body with sweet malt, milk chocolate and mild coffee flavors. The finish is creamy and sweet with malt and light hops, and a bit of coffee in the aftertaste. Above average, although if Alaskan applied some of their Smoked Porter prowess to this beer it would be a lot better.

A black body with no head. The aroma had bourbom, vanilla, pears and cinnamon. I think I got a whiff of smoke. The taste was sweet brown sugar with pears and a hint if chocolate.
