This is a great beer, agreed it is the best from alaskan. Especially after the last one I had was the Summer Ale (yuck). Wonderfull aftertaste, finishes thin. Great.

This oatmeal stout pours a pitch black color with a small, tan colored head. Malty, roasty aroma of coffee and roasted malts with a touch of hops. Full body with low carbonation and a soft, very creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is strongly oaty with lots of roasted malt and chocolate flavors bouncing around. The hops show up some in the finish, along with more coffee and big chocolate notes. Great stout, very flavorful and extremely smooth.

beer pours a deep, rich black with a dense tan head that laces well. aroma is very malty - a sweet maltiness has that wonderful notes of roast and chocolate. a very clean and well rounded nose. the flavor is more of the same - a richy maltiness with a smooth bite from the roasted barley. no particular hop flavor, just some IBUs. the beery has a very creamy texture, and is a very easy-drinking stout. this is definately a sweeter stout, with the roast flavors being well balanced with the maltiness. very good, and not a common beer style.

black with a huge tan head with no lacing. The aroma is very roasty and sweet with some caramel and chocolate milk, the dark malts are solid with some coffee and caramel along with that trademart oat/flaked barley creamyness. The flavor is very well balanced with some sweet leftover sugars mixed with the roastyness and a light touch of bitter hops. Very well balanced, delicious.

Nice near pitch black coloured stout ( what else?)..there are some ruby accents when held to the light Roasted oats in the aroma some dark treacle too. Nice and creamy yet bitter taste.Like a good chocolate bar also a touch of liquorice and black coffee. The palate is a little on the thin side for a stout..but this increases the drinkablity . Good beer.

12 oz bottle-Trade w/after4ever-Very nice stout-pours jet black w/almost no head. Does indeed have a sweet grainy roasted aroma. Very smooth sweet flavor of chocolate, coffee, & roasted nuts. Has some carbination. Long smooth aftertaste, roasted flavor without being burnt like some stouts. This is definatly one you could sit down and have a few of. Thanks for this one Tom!!!

12 oz bottle VIA Saarlander (thanks man!). Pours black with a large head. Nose is oaty..is that a word? ANyway that is what i smell. I quite enjoy the taste of this. It is flavorful, yet all the flavors are subtle. There is a bit of roastiness, the oats take center stage, and are complemented by some chocolate malts, and some floral hops. Carbonation is light to medium, as is the body. This is a very nice, easy drinking, sessionable stout.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2012 12 oz. bottle from Beer On The Wall. Dark brown to black pour with a thin but creamy tan head. Rich chocolate aroma as well as smoke and roasted coffee. Dark, almost burnt, roasted malt flavor which I actually find quite satisfying. Very flavorful, much more than most beers under 6% ABV. I like it...Update from May 2, 2012. Had this beer on tap at the Taphouse Grill-Downtown in Seattle, WA. My notes mirror those from my initial review with an equal score in every category.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2010 03/10 had a couple over the weekend; increased the rating - this is VERY solid. Not over the top, just a damn good stout with some roasted/malt flavors, medium palate smooth finish - session stout? purchased in CO; drank in TX. Very dark with small tan head. aroma was subdued - sweet, vanilla, chocolate? great smooth palate and flavor slight carbonation in taste. would have liked a little more flavor but this was a very good beer; will have again in winter... Had again - great winter session beer!!
