lb4lb (1462), Austin, Texas, USA May 19, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Bitterbill in trade. Thanks!
Pours black with a lasting light tan head. Smell is unique, but with some thin chocolate and some sort of creamy "greenness" to it like an unripe banana. Taste is very lightly roasted thin malt and some metallic notes and an odd green tartness. Mouthfeel is lacking and is too thin as is the flavor. Just a very strange beer, overall.
Edgekrusher (58), , Alabama, USA Oct 8, 2008 I enjoyed this Alaskan more than the amber. Has a slight coffee aftertaste I am fond of. nuplastikk (464), Maryland, USA Sep 23, 2008 12oz bottle. Black color with minimal head. Delicate sweet chocolate aroma. Creamy and rich flavors, not strictly relying on chocolate malt overkill, lots of caramel and a little coffee. Smooth with mellow carbonation. A little sweet in the finish, not much hop balance. Excellent Sweet Stout. darn1207 (335), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 16, 2008 12oz bottle. black pour with smallish tan head. aroma of cocoa and roasted malt. sweet brown sugar taste. with smoke and a cereal vibe to it. oily texture. ok. brianprentiss (397), Mountain View, California, USA Sep 13, 2008 Pretty smokey with very little head. Nice roasted malt and a bit of charcoal. Don’t know why it’s called an "oatmeal" stout but a generally nice beer. Nik925 (156), California, USA Sep 2, 2008 Hardly any head even with a healthy pour and it disappeared immediately. Low appearance score. Bad mouthfeel. Sweet and dry at the same time in a bad way. I hate to say this but for me, it leaves a aftertaste of ashtray. I’ll pass on this one.
