Decent, with a modestly dry backbone holding together a mocha-tinged sweetness. The oatmeal eases out the texture, leaving the brew velvety despite its thin appearance. Finishes dry and quick. Not enough of the big-bad stout flavors for me in this bottle; it could be great with just a few tweaks. Still worth trying, though.

Dark color tan head. Flavor and smell of dark malts and lean mouthfeel. Finishes roasty and crisp. Decent beer.

16 July 2015, tap at Alaskan Brewing Company. Ruby/brown. Nose is dark roasted malt. Med/creamy body and mildly fizzy. Dark malt, faint bread, some oatmeal malt, mildly sweet, Bly hints of chocolate bitterness. Nice.

12 oz. bottle. It pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is pretty balanced with some dark fruit, coffee and roasted malt. The flavor is pretty complex with notes of caramel, dark fruit, coffee cocoa and roasted malt. The dark fruitiness is front and center with very subtle roasted character which is a nice change of pace. Very drinkable. I liked this one.

12 oz bottle. 6.2%. Bottled on 04/22/15. (White Cross Liquor) Las Vegas, NV.
Black colour with a tiny tan ring. A mild aroma of roasted malt and milky sweetness. The flavour is roasted malt, vanilla, milky sweetness, mild coffee and some mild bitterness. Very easy to drink. Thinnish.

Pours pretty much black with an average size diminishing light-brown head. Aroma of caramel malt and chocolate. Taste is somewhat disappointing-- malt, a mild sourness and light hops but I didnít get any coffee or chocolate and itís pretty watery and thin.

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Label States 6.2%. Clear, dark, chestnut brown. Halo of tan head. Light coffee. Milk chocolate. Oaty, milky sweetness. Drinks milky sweet. Light dry. Smooth palate. Soft carbonation to match. Ends light sweet. Easy drinking, albeit a bit one dimensional.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 5/12/2015. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, brown bread, light smoke, light dark fruit, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, brown bread, light smoke, light dark fruit, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, brown bread, light smoke/dark fruit, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice oatmeal stout style. All around good balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/roasted/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Best by date of 08.12.14. Poured from a 12 oz into a tumbler on 05.23.14. A: Midnight black with some red. It has no head but some fizziness when pouring. S: Roasty chocolate. Sweet smelling. T: Chocolate, caramel, and raisin are dominant. Char, apple, vanilla, and oak are subtle. M: Creamy. Has maybe too much carbonation for a stout. O: The roastiness is not overpowering. The oak quality was surprising. This is a go-to stout.

Near black pour with a one finger, creamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate, roast, wet campfire char, a little spice and Riesens candy. Flavor is roast, roasted nuts, cardboard, dark toasted granola, caramel, cocoa, dark fruity esters, a hint of dark roast coffee and a sort of weird tart, electrolytic finish. Light, thin and dry body, medium to heavy, sharp and blanketing carbonation, dry, thin, chalky and slightly acidic finish. It is still pretty good despite many flaws, but due to being crazy thin, oxidized and oddly sour I think it is probably pretty old and possibly infected.... After checking the best by date it is nearly two months beyond that date, so I will revisit this one.
