VitaminR (422), Colorado, USA May 18, 2008 Honey and fruity aroma with slight spice notes. Pure gold color, slight haze. Caramel and slight banana bread sweetness, nice subtle bitterness, pretty good balance. Medium carbonation, complex, yet crisp finish. Seems a bit malty for a Kölsch, but a really tasty beer nonetheless. dchmela (1411), Orlando, Florida, USA May 11, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy Buckeye Boy. Light yellow pour with a thin white head. Malty funky fruity aroma. Taste is smooth malty and fruity with a light malty finish. Very nice summer beer. chokmah33 (115), Bremerton, Washington, USA May 8, 2008 Updated: Jun 19, 2008Aroma is fairly hoppy, grass. Smells almost exactly like white wine. Flavor of metalic malts, yeast, some perfumey hops. Lively palate, creamy texture, clean finish. I rock this one every summer. hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA May 8, 2008 pours an orange straw color with a thin rather rich looking white head. it smells very floral... combined with fresh white peaches, light yeast and some grassiness. there’s not a whole lot going on in the flavor... similar to the aroma but watered down... mild sweetness and acidity with a light bitter grassy finish. very light on the palate. medium body as the carbonation gets a bit creamy. acidic mouth feel and fizzy texture. cathcacr (586), Portland, Oregon, USA May 2, 2008 I guess maybe if I had this back to back with a macro lager, I could tell the differences, but this just isn’t good. It even manages to stick in the mouthfeel aspects of your macro lager even if it didn’t put in the corn/rice accents. Kind of a light airy sea-breezy aroma. No head retention. The most offensive part is just the whole mouth-delivery, with the fake plasticky fizzy mouthfeel of none other than a macro. Why have this for free when you could pay $3.29 for Lagunitas Lucky 13? Aquilo (249), California, USA May 1, 2008 Copper-blond with a thin white head. Smells of orange and spice. Flavor is wheat, but a bit watery. This isn’t a bad ale, but it is rather boring. killjoy966 (215), Washington, USA Apr 30, 2008 Absolutely no head. Smells almost fruity, like berries or perhaps some kind of melon. Unfortunately, the taste does not follow. Reminds me of some kind of bland grain. Rather watery tasting. The carbonation is a bit much and it burns on its way down. I expected better from Alaskan. alaskanwarren (286), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 27, 2008 Pale golden color with ample white head made up of medium-sized bubbles. Aroma is sweet, grainy and some orange. Flavor is mild, malty and some more orange with a grapefruit and caramel aftertaste. Eventually some spice character comes out, with some pepper flavors on the back of the tongue. Body is medium to light with lots of carbonation. I’m no expert on Kölsch style beers, but this seems to fit the description fairly well. I’d say this errs on teh side of the malts though, since I dont see the hops being very prominent, and it feels like the taste doesn’t back up the aroma as much as I’d like. All in all though it’s tasty. VERY glad to see Alaskan Beers finally make it to Colorado.
