Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

bright pale gold color with a medium thin white fizzy head. Light grain and spicy hop aroma. Light body, lively and very clean carbonation. A good clean malt flavor with a light lasting bitterness. Well balanced and very drinkable

Honey and fruity aroma with slight spice notes. Pure gold color, slight haze. Caramel and slight banana bread sweetness, nice subtle bitterness, pretty good balance. Medium carbonation, complex, yet crisp finish. Seems a bit malty for a Kölsch, but a really tasty beer nonetheless.

Aroma is fairly hoppy, grass. Smells almost exactly like white wine. Flavor of metalic malts, yeast, some perfumey hops. Lively palate, creamy texture, clean finish. I rock this one every summer.

pours an orange straw color with a thin rather rich looking white head. it smells very floral... combined with fresh white peaches, light yeast and some grassiness. there’s not a whole lot going on in the flavor... similar to the aroma but watered down... mild sweetness and acidity with a light bitter grassy finish. very light on the palate. medium body as the carbonation gets a bit creamy. acidic mouth feel and fizzy texture.

I guess maybe if I had this back to back with a macro lager, I could tell the differences, but this just isn’t good. It even manages to stick in the mouthfeel aspects of your macro lager even if it didn’t put in the corn/rice accents. Kind of a light airy sea-breezy aroma. No head retention. The most offensive part is just the whole mouth-delivery, with the fake plasticky fizzy mouthfeel of none other than a macro. Why have this for free when you could pay $3.29 for Lagunitas Lucky 13?

Copper-blond with a thin white head. Smells of orange and spice. Flavor is wheat, but a bit watery. This isn’t a bad ale, but it is rather boring.

Absolutely no head. Smells almost fruity, like berries or perhaps some kind of melon. Unfortunately, the taste does not follow. Reminds me of some kind of bland grain. Rather watery tasting. The carbonation is a bit much and it burns on its way down. I expected better from Alaskan.
