On tap at the brewery. I was expecting the typical wheaty, spicy summer brew. Well, summer ain’t summer in Alaska. Light and refreshing, even on a cool August afternoon.

12 oz. bottles. 6 pack from QFC. Very transparent yellow, with a fluffy head that slowly fades away. Not a bad looking kolsch. Not a huge fan of the style. I find it to be a bit too light for me. Anyways, a little grassy with some corn-like aromas; a surprisingly pungent beer. Very grassy with some corn, in terms of flavor. Somewhat of a thicker texture for a kolsch. Surprisingly, a touch of honey throughout. Not a horrible beer, but again the style is just not my favorite. Not a bad beer.

Pours a pale straw yellow with a small white head that was gone rather quickly. Left little to no lacing. Aroma was faint with a bit of malt. Flavor not complex, but pleasant. Crisp and well suited for its namesake. A decent enough session beer when the weather turns warm.

Pouts straw color with a white head. Smells of light perfume, some toasted malt. Tastes of some light, sweet malt and perfumy with an earthy finish.

The Alaskan Brewery Summer Ale has made absolutely no impression in my memory. If it weren’t for my notes, I doubt I’d even remember I’ve drunk it. Be that as it may, this beer is absolutely, entirely drinkable, especially in the season for which it’s name. And that might be all there is to say. A light, grainy, crisp aroma with delicate notes of honey suckle, and a watery, even dense, mineral water quenching effect. Not a whole lot of taste, but I wouldn’t expect it either. Maybe the perfect beer to bring to hot summer day gatherings in Seattle. Entirely drinkable and entirely forgettable.

Sampled at the Denver Brew Fest. Very nice. One of the best kolsch’s I’ve yet tried. Smooth, light, refreshing, and no poop anywhere. Really dug it.

On tap. Clear yellow with a white head. Lightly sweet malty nose. Medium body, sweet clean malts. No real bitterness. Very malt accentuated indeed. 080709

Clear golden with a fleeting white head. Honey and earthy mango sweet aromas. Light/medium body. Flavors of pale grainy malts, lightly sweet honey, and a tropical fruit earthyness. Easy drinking.

Bottle. Pours crystal clear golden orange with a nice white head that fell off to a dense layer of foam covering the top of this golden brew. Aroma is light maltiness with a slight touch of hops. Flavor is malty up front, giving way to the hallertauer hops. Some honey sweetness giving way to spicy hops in the finish. Not bad at all, it’s Clean, it’s smooth even though it’s quite effervescent, on the other hand it seems to have pretty good head retention with a touch of lace left behind.

Bottle. Poured with a spare, white head that diminished quickly to a thin film. Body was clear and flat, with a dark-yellow color. Aroma was of light malt and some slight citrus. Light-bodied and thin on the palate, with average carbonation. Taste was of a short duration, but it was good... lightly sweet, again with some citrus. Overall it was fine, but nothing great. High drinkability in that it goes down very easy.
