PattyBoy (302), North Liberty, Iowa, USA Sep 14, 2006 Pours a clear gold, white head is minimal. Flavor is sweet toasted malt with slightly spicy hops. There is also a hint of orange throughout. Nice!! beerabill (14), Silverdale, Washington, USA Sep 7, 2006 Bottle. Gold color, slightly hazey, a thin white head that diminishes quikly. Light fruit taste, malty with a hint of hop going down. Easily drinkable. Great with the gourmet pizza. A "nice day" brew. sistinas (60), Tempe, Arizona, USA Sep 7, 2006 Bottle. Pours a gold tone with lots of carbonation and a small, dense head. Smells citrusy and malty, nothing strong. Flavor is similar with a little added spice and a clean, very slightly bitter finish. Super drinkable and on extremely hot days I’d definitely prefer it over anything else I’ve had this summer. In fact, I feel like I should be drinking this outside right now. Yarr. zathrus13 (1288), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Sep 2, 2006 Yellow/gold, with a white head. Aromas are malt, citrus, and some spice. Flavors are much the same, malt, spice and citrus. Light to medium body. A decent summer beer. Phatz (225), Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 2, 2006 Appearance: This beer pours a bright yellow with just a hint of orange. Small fizzy heady fades fast.
Smell: Toasty caramel malt aroma and hints of citrus hops. Very clean nose.
Taste: I am new to this style but I really it enjoy the brilliant simplicity here. Malt & hops - beer. Simple straightforward; quaffable. There is a hint of toastedness to the sweet (almost fruity) malts. There is a hint of citrus to the solid (almost spicy) hops. This is a beer made for drinking.
Mouthfeel: It has a nice light body, smooth, and very refreshing.
Drinkability: Sensational. This is a perfect choice for a Summer Ale.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers! AdamGott (190), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA Sep 1, 2006 nicely drinkable, perfect for a summer beer - nothing spectacular about this beer but does every beer really need to be spectacular? medium to heavy spice flavors (lemon, fruit, pepper) complement the malt body and flavor quite nicely with a hint of hops unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Aug 12, 2006 I had this beer at Local Ocean Seafood Resturant, Newport. Recomended by John MoreHops. It went great with the Fisherman’s Wife Stew. Great Stew!
Kolsch style. yellow orange color. very flavorful, light texture with heavy malt. banana, spices. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Aug 5, 2006 Pours with a brilliantly clear, dark gold color and is topped by a frothy, initially four finger thick palest of the pale tan colored head. The aroma is a mix of fruit and herbs at first; sort of a berry note predominantly with a touch of leafy herb-like notes. Actually the berry note is the most pronounced note in the nose of this beer.
The berry note continues through to the flavor of this beer, it is again the most pronounced note as well. A sweet malty note accentuates the fruit character as well. A sharp, clean, yet in no way dominating, bitterness is found throughout the flavor profile of this beer, and helps to temper the slightly heavier body that is contributed by the sweetness. It seems to disappear in the long finish, where a malty, caramelized grain note seems to linger. Perhaps a touch fruitier than I was expecting from a Kölsch, but it adds a touch more character to this beer. Certainly a tasty tipple, especially for a hot summer’s day; I certainly am enjoying it.
