Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

This beer was just not what we expected and came off wrong too style. We think there was some battch issues. The color was a deep golden yellow. There was no head and the skunky taste was right off the bat. This did not sit well tasted awful like it was infected. We hope the next batch will be better.

From a stubby 12oz. brown bottle with a best before date on the lower right hand side of front label, 05/19/06. Made a decent appearance, poured a clear pale golden with a foamy white head that settled into a thin lacing, moderate carbonation overall. Had a fruity, cereal grainy nose with a subtle dry spicy, salty hoppiness. A crisp, smooth medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Sweet fruity and cereal grainy maltiness upfront, a soft dry hoppiness, mildly bitter, an ale yeastiness and a dry, crisp sweet grainy finish, very tasty. A very nice summer beer from Alaskan Brewing, if you get a chance, a must try, especially if you like the style.

Fairly sweet, mellow flavour. Not too hoppy, but I think it’s a good thing. Hard to describe, but it’s perfect for a hot day.

Thanks to a friend for bringing this back from his vacation. Aroma of corn with some slight lemon-grass notes. Clear with a golden color, little head. Light honey, corn, malty flavor. Slight hint of hops, but very slight. Light body.

Draught sample at O’Brien’s, San Diego. Clear light golden colour. Aroma is light and fresh, with hints of citrus and honey. Body and flavour are both very crisp and clean - and I don’t mean that in a sarcastic, macro way. It’s a simple, pleasant, refreshing, well-made beer.
