Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

Malty sweet, herbal, grassy aroma. Lemon zest, light caramel malt flavors. Unpleasant dryness at the finish produces a coating feeling on my tongue. Not bad, but coming from Alaskan brewing I had higher expectations.

Beautiful golden ale look. Pours easily with a slight head. Perfect warm weather beer. A little sweet with some tart, citrusy taste.

Pours a dark golden color with a small white head. Aroma is citrus lemon and a bit of malty sweet. Flavor is a mild malt with a bit of lemon and a metallic taste. Watery mouthfeel but refreshing. Good session beer.

Pours with a golden-orange body topped by a thin to medium thick head with some lacing. The aroma and flavor are slightly sweet and malty with a grassy bitterness. Light bodied and smooth.

This Kolsch-style ale was quite a let down, very flat and watery with a big metallic finish. Pours clear orange with a medium white head. Malts are light with a slight fruitiness and mild hopping in the finish. This brew finishes with a big metallic note and a slightly tart flavor that lingers in the aftertaste.

Thanks to Buck Dich for this one. Pours dark straw with medium white head. Aroma of malt, some hopcit. Tastes malty, with a firm honey element, some hopcit, and a smooth finish. Solid.

Pours deep golden color with dissapating white head. Nose is faint of bready, grassy mild maltiness. Flavor is mild bitterness with almost a grainy, straw-like character. Not bad, however I probably wouldn’t get this one again.
