COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just when you’ve had enough of winter, we release Alaskan Summer Ale in March. This traditional Kölsch beer is a great way to celebrate warmer weather and more daylight. Its crisp, clean flavor is the perfect complement for crab, halibut, salads and longer days.

Bottle. Pours clear golden amber, thin white head, weak lacing. Nose is soapy, with clean grain and light gunsmoke/graphite notes. Flavours are clean and earthy, with a touch of smoke here as well. No corn, no DMS, no real flaws, just clean and simple. Inoffensive and well-made, but not show-stopping by any measure. Refreshing.

Hazy yellow-gold, lots of carbonation. Smells like, well, a Kolsch...fruity, musty wheat. Taste: mellow, fruity, wheaty, honey, yeast and some floral hops. Great summer beer.

on Draft. Pours clear straw gold with a lasting veil of white foam. Subtle spicy hops in nose, along with sweet malt and delicate fruity esters. The taste follows with earthy and spicy hops and clean malt. Quite clean. Nice bitterness in finish. This beer could use a little more hop character up front and more fermentation character. It’s a delicate style though, and this is pretty good.

On tap at Seattle TapRoom. Pours deep golden with a white head. Aroma is of grassy, perfume hops and biscuit malt. Medium, slightly crisp body. Light, crisp, grassy malt is balanced on the palate by biscuit malt and hints of tropical fruit. Short, light finish. Easy drinking brew, one of the best Kolsch I’ve tried.

Aroma is malty with a yeasty overtone and a hint of fruit like summer sunshine. It pours a typical clear amber with a thick, frothy, off-white head. Flavor is malty and fruity with hints of caramel and honey - not complex, but still refreshing. Smooth texture has a decent tingle to it and leaves behind a fruity fizz. Not great, but grab a bottle if you get a chance.

Pours a pale yellow color with a quickly disappearing medium sized head. Aroma of pale malts, bread, yeast and grains. Flavor of sweet malts and grain. Overall a decent beer.

Tap. I mean, whatever, its an easy drinking mild wheat beer, although a bit boring. Slight sour nose. Grain on taste. Not an exciteable brew but doesn’t suck either.

Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 3, 2011
9/9/12/11/10/11

Pours hazy yellow with thin white head on tap, aroma has notes of lemon, straw, some bread, touch of fruit. Taste is nice and smooth, has a touch of lemon and fruit with lots of bready malt, touch of biting yeast, with a clean sweet and slightly dry finish. Not bad, nice and refreshing.
