Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

Bottle from unclemike. Pours a hazy gold with white fizzy head. Aroma of faint citrus, faint malt. Flavor has a little grain, faint citrus. Mouthfeel is light and watery, high carbonation. Overall, kinda boring beer.

Poured dark yellow with no head. The aroma was bready with some yeast esters. The flavor was fruity with some slight breadiness but overall fairly clean, little or no hop character. Pretty enjoyable, I could drink this beer all day.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with unclemike. Pours a mostly clear gold with a thin white head that disappeared after the first sip and left zero lace. Light aroma of malt and some grassy hops. The flavor is identical to the aroma with mild malt and some grassy hops. Lightly bitter at the finish. An ok beer.

Not bad for a summer ale. Usually "summer" means "summer vacation from beers with flavor," but not here. Malt is good and it has some hops to it. Yellow color with fairly fizzy white head. Mouthfeel is pretty lager-like, with ever so slightly more body. Refreshing.

Bottle thanks to unclemike. Clear golden yellow with a finger of frothy white head that disappears quickly. Malty dry aroma, light pear like fruitiness. Taste is sweet pale malts, light pears and a light bittering of hops.

From unclemike via trade. The pour was a hazy gold color with a short lived, fizzy white head. The aroma was light malt, tart citrus and some borderline unpleasant graininess. The flavor was tart citrus cut with a bit of malt. Thin mouthfeel. Not great.

Poured into a cylinder glass. Clear yellow gold with a small off-white head. Aroma is light German pale malts with a hint of stone fruit. Flavor is toasty sweet malt, soft unacidic citrus, and a light grassy Hallertau zest. Good carbonation, light body, clean finish, high drinkability. Not very complex or interesting, just solid and summery. Does what it ought to do: refresh.
