Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

Beautiful golden ale look. Pours easily with a slight head. Perfect warm weather beer. A little sweet with some tart, citrusy taste.

Not much head out of the bottle. Really good clean flavor. Hoppy, citrusy, tastes fresh. Theres no other way to explain it. Comparison to other Kolsh I’ve had, I like this better than GI Summertime. Another very good product from Alaskan. Need to get up there so I can sample the rest of their offerings.

Bottle was bought in Anchorage maybe that makes a difference for freshness. The head was real good but didn’t last too long. Low on the bitterness scale and a slightly sweet flavor one of the best Kölschs I have had. Good balance of hops and malt.

This is an excellent Kolsh. Light yellow, nice head, delicate, dry, winey, very subtle hop bitterness, slight hop flavor, a little sweet malt flavor, refreshing. I could drink this all day long!

This beer is perhaps the best rendition of a true Kolsch style beer in N. America. Huge white head gives off mildly fruity nose with hints of German hops and caramel. Firm malty body and a smooth malty finish and lingering hops. I would call this ‘Koln in a bottle’ for a catchy marketing campaign.

Nice, clear golden colored body with a small, mostly diminishing white head. Aroma of sweet malts and floral hops in the background. Light to medium body with crisp carbonation and a fairly smooth mouthfeel. Nice flavors of malts and hops are well balanced between themselves. Finish is mildly sweet with a touch of hop bitterness. Nice Kolsch, one of the better American brewed of the style. Very tasty and delicately flavored with a good balance and lots of refreshing character.
