Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

On tap@O’Brien’s: Pale golden color with a very small, fast fading head. Aroma is jucy fruit gum. Flavor lightly sweet and fruity with a hint of bubble gum. Smooth thin palate.

Kinda disappointing. Very yellow coloring, with small head. Aroma is light, with spice profiles. Kinda mellow in the flavor department, with no distinguishing charasteristics. Still, Alaskan is quality, and you can’t disrespect that.

Sparkling light gold, creamy white head. Nose held notes of spice cake, vanilla, caramel, pear, and fresh bread. Nice citrus and spice flavors that blance each other well. Light bodied, medium carbonation, crisp finish. Kolsch has never been my thing, but this was ok for what it was.

I do like summer brews because they’re light but this is on the verge of skanky. The label was enough to seel me in the beer isle but never again.

Pours with a golden-orange body topped by a thin to medium thick head with some lacing. The aroma and flavor are slightly sweet and malty with a grassy bitterness. Light bodied and smooth.

Head was rather small, nice light gold color. A little fruit, spice and honey. Finish is clean.

Bottled. I'm not a kolsch fan, but this one wasn't bad. Nice sweet flavor to it. It's good for the season it's named after.

Huge bubbles, head dissipated pretty quickly, a real lively beer with a pale straw body. A pale malty aroma a hint of vanilla. very subdued earthy and floral hops. Clean, crisp and refreshingly malty. Very appropriate summer offering, I just think it's a weak style.
