hotstuff (3038), Indiana, USA Feb 3, 2008 Draft at Chinook Winds Casino Resort, Lincoln City, OR. White head that was mostly diminishing, spotty lacing, transparent, very little carbonation, and a yellow hue. Malty, hoppy, sweet nose. Flavor was semi-sweet, malty, hops and a hint of corn. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Nothing outstanding about this one. Just an okay brew.
Wulfstan (443), California, USA Sep 5, 2008 This is a nice, pleasant, light, refreshing, but tasty beer. It’s gold with a smallish white head shrinking to a ring and only a weak hint of lace. The aroma is grain, grass, fruit, applies, very nice. The taste is crisp, dryish, with grain like a good lager, apples, hints of apple peel and with a light zestiness. unclemike (351), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Sep 3, 2008 This might be one of the best beers I ever had aroma of clove and a little banana quickly dissipated to a mild grain/malt aroma with slight DMS aroma detectable. Beer poured with a golden color with a very fine head and no lace. Several minutes after pouring, a mixture of medium and a few large bubbles continued to rise up through the glass. Flavor was heavier than other Kölsch beers I’ve tried: more like a kristalweizen than a Kölsch. A pleasant flavor. Nik925 (136), California, USA Sep 2, 2008 Mild wheat flavor, completely balanced and very clean tasting. It lacks depth in flavor and has a lager flavor to the yeast tones. Worth drinking, but not that special. DTM (373), Winters, California, USA Sep 2, 2008 Bottle from a friend in Woodland, CA. Pours a golden color with an aroma of light malty flavors. Starts sweet with just a hint of a bitter finish. Nothing outstanding, but an average brew. jcr (835), Jasper, Indiana, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Pleasant enough but it lacks the crispness of other Kolsch-style beers. Small white head that disappears. The boy is clear yellow/gold. The aroma is lightly malty with notes of toasted grain and grass. Some light floral notes are below the malt. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish grows a little more bitter. Medium body with a watery texture. Lively carbonation. The medium body and dominant malty sweetness keep this from being something you’d want to take big, quenching sips of. Still, as seemingly uneventful as this is, I wouldn’t turn down another if it were offered.
