This was a nice surprise! My first Kolsch...
aroma is awesome, apples and pineapple, and some other fruity smells. Looks like carbonated apple juice with a tiny head. Nice fruity taste, mild hops, a little sweet. Surprisingly good.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SHIG (2697) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Bottle: Poured a golden with white fluffy head. Aroma is fruit and wheat. Taste is smooth with sweet grain and wheat, nice glowing clove to give it a nice edge. Soft fruitiness in the finish.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 kidmartinek (1842) - austin, Texas, USA - MAY 17, 2012
Clear yellow and thin with a small white run for a head. Weak aroma of a hop or two. Tastes like a pale lager with only slightly more flavor than an American macro. The only good thing about the appearance are the numerous bubbles drifting quickly to the top of the pour. Its a little sweet has a decent bite, but that’s ruined by the sweetness. The beer comes off heavy despite having a thin, runny consistency.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden with a small frothy white head. The aroma is Citrus and wheat. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet hop and wheat flavor with nice crisp finish. Easy to drink a very good Kolsch from Alaskan.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Beerenberger (181) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAY 9, 2012
Pour from the tap a golden yellow color with not much of a head. The nose is hard to detect. The taste is bread with a dry finish an medium mouth feel. Ok, but like saint Arnold's Kölsch better.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 RollinHard (972) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - APR 29, 2012
Pours clear gold with a tiny ring of white foam. Aroma of breakfast pastries, grain, sourdough bread, not much hop presence. Flavor of dough, bread crust, earth, and grass. Finishes earthy with a slight peppery tang that doesn;t last very long. Nearly light bodied with a very bubbly carbonation, but the mouthfeel is kinda sticky. Some good flavors are present here and I’d have the beer again, but it’s not a special example of kolsch (then again, I can’t think of one I just LOVE).
