2011 Great Alaska Beer And Barleywine Festival. Clear copper color/ tan head. Big smoked peat smoke, oak, wood, toffee, molasses aromas. medium to full bodied. Sweet spicy caramel, toffee, vanilla flavors with mild whiskey--sweet heavy finish.

On tap @ Humpy’s. Mahogany with a small head. Aroma of peat smoke, dark fruit, caramel and light wood. The flavor is some astringent smoke, sweet caramel malt and a very faint whiskey. Medium body with mild carbonation and a oily mouth feel. Had this at the 2011 GABBF and it seemed better there, more JD barrel character. This one was pretty peaty or maybe a whole pint of this just got to me. Still, pretty solid beer.
