Sledge Jr (2692), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Apr 29, 2008 2007 version. In the bottle from Seattle Bottleworks. Pours copper with a large off white head. Caramel toffee and butterscotch aroma. Very smooth and very sweet. Has a big strawberry flavor. Medium body, not so thick to the mouth for such a big malt sweetness. Great beer!
Theis (1922), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 27, 2008 Bottle at home - tasting. Clear golden - white head. Spicy, berries, knækbrød, dryness, high dryness, hoppy, sweetness, marmelade, raspberries, spruce...... a bit wierd. hittheroad (1), San Jose, California, USA does not count May 27, 2008 Initial flavour of sweet blueberries without a tart aftertaste. A bit of spruce evens out the flavour. The finish is hoppy in an inoffensive manner--good for those who like flavourful beer without a heavy hops taste. sunevdj (1346), Copenhagen, Denmark May 25, 2008 Pours a clear golden with a white head. Very dry and sweet. Aromas of blueberries without theis sourness. Lots of floral spruce aromas. Medium bodied. Dry floral finish. Dogbrick (2165), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 15, 2008 Sample in the Alaskan tap room. This brew pours a hazy, ruddy amber color with a medium thin light beige head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of pine, hops and fruit. Medium-bodied with a piney/spruce (prevents scurvy!) character, along with fresh fruit, hops and malt flavors. Touches of spice are present too. The finish is hoppy and malty with a fruit and spice aftertaste. Decent overall. spikester (350), Salem, Oregon, USA May 6, 2008 Pours reddish amber with a cream colored head. Plenty of lacing.
Big bitter flavor with very sweet malts. Spruce tips add and interesting flavor.
Pretty well balanced for the type. Abv of 6.4% is well hidden.
