COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Winter comes early in Alaska, so we release Alaskan Winter Ale in October. The tender new growth of spruce trees has been used for brewing in Alaska since the late 1700s when explorers sailed the coast of Alaska looking for the Northwest Passage. Alaskan Brewing revives this tradition, adding spruce tips to its Alaskan Winter Ale.

What you expect in a winter beer. Could be better but it is better than average. Very finishable if you enjoy a winter cast ale.

Nice amber color. Sweet malt smell. Taste is malty with a some piney flavor, though not as pronounced as I’d hope. More body than expected with a long finish. Pretty good, would love to try in draft.

12oz bottle pours a clear orange amber with some clumpy, white head. A fair amount of spruce in the nose, some pine but far from hoppy, malt, cracker. Flavor is malty, orange, some spruce, a little dusty, some light spice but nothing definable. Medium bodied, dry finish.

Pours a clear amber color with a thin white head that faded quickly. Smells of biscuit, spruce and caramel. Tastes of spices, caramel, and spruce and a sweet fruit flavor. Mouthfeel is medium and syrupy, with pretty good chewy carbonation. Overall this is a great tasting winter ale. Pretty solid all around besides appearance.

Medium amber pour with cream-colored head. Aroma is rather faint - some spruce, caramel and fruit. Taste is quite sweet, lots of fruit and some light spruce. Virtually no bitterness or hop notes in this. I’m not a huge fan of real sweet brews, but this one is quite good.

Pours a clear amber with a small white ring. Aroma of caramel, spruce & biscuit. Taste is toasty cereal with a bunch of spices. Feels a bit warm on the tongue but not overwhelming. Easy drinking winter warmer.
