boboski (1095), USA Dec 15, 2007 Thin foamy white head, quickly and mostly receding. Translucent, deep cider amber body, pretty but dull as well. The nose is filled with soft caramel and bready malts. Spruce is very evident and adds an interesting change of pace to an otherwise monotonous aroma. Bready grains have a touch of a stale note. Noble hops, unnoticeable behind a mish-mash malt bill in the nose, are crisp, clean and moderate in strength in the flavor. Spruce adds a minty spur to mild bitterness. The finish is crisp and admittedly wintery, with bitterness, spruce and toasted grain lingering. Mouthfeel is softly and adequately carbonated, light-medium in body and pretty easy to drink.
SuperDave70 (929), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 29, 2008 Clear copper pour with a small head that fizzes away quickly. Aroma of malt and citrus. Sweet malty fruit flavor with just a hint of spice and hops. Alright. danielcurtis81 (262), San Diego, California, USA Nov 27, 2008 Draft. Pours copper with a white head. Strong orange smells. Good orange flavors, a pine aftertaste. Very clean and crisp. Wegro (178), Fresno, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 Updated: Nov 27, 2008Pours a nice clear copper, smells piney and earthy. tastes the same, kind of minty, finishes clean with a little bit of alcohol warmth. VERY similar to anderson valley’s winter solstice. not bad, but not what i was expecting. too much carmel sweetness. Dmalone102 (115), Denver, Colorado, USA Nov 20, 2008 This surprised me with the color! It has a bright copper color, I guess all winter warmers don’t have to be dark. The flavor is very heavy on the malt balance. It is very carmally, and somewhat cloying. Lagunitasfan (95), San Diego, California, USA Nov 18, 2008 Non descript was the headline of my notes. Safe orange color with no head. Semi-sweet on the nose. A bit of sharpness that rounds off in the mouth. As it warms it improves. Lingers nicely.
